Probabpy the first time i agree with you. Koeman is not perfect but he is not bad at all. Winning the league will be big this season and that's mean Koeman has done really well.

Compare Valverde team to current team before you compare their seasons. At least Valverde had a striker and a transfer budget.

Eh, let's compare:

Messi 18/19 is better than current Messi but current Messi is among or even the best player in the world. So either EV or Koeman has the world best player in their squad.
Braithwaite is not comparable to Suarez but Griezmann is not bad this season, plus higher workrate.
Alba this season is as good as Alba pre Anfield.
De Jong is top midfielder right now, better than Rakitic or Vidal or Arthur.
Pedri, same with De Jong, is considered by many here as better than Rakitic, Vidal or Arthur.
Busquest is Busquest.
Dest, some rates him higher than Roberto or Semedo.
Dembele, fit more than ever.
Stegen is not as good as himself under EV.
Same with Pique and Lenglet but then Minguenza and Araujo are fresh air.
Puig, top 5 midfielder in the world.

So overall, look at quality of players, at least base on this forum metric, it seems most of current players are better than EV's players.

Obviously the point was to compare the teams at the beginning of the seasons. Now at the end you can see the effect of the coach. If you re telling me that
at the beginning of the season you thought this team was better than the one with legit striker and transfer budget, you are simply lying or trolling.

No I am honest.
I was honest before the season when I said this squad can win the treble, or be close to relegation.
It is also true. Had Koeman continued trying to play like he did in the first 3rd of the season, they were heading that way. Now imagine if Messi had left, this kind of play wouldn't work.

Koemans team has, results-wise, been able to be closer to total success than total failure, in the end. I explain this most of all by them getting rid of players like Semedo, Rakitic, Vidal and even Suarez (+ and - with him), thus getting a team consisting of mostly very technical and smart players able to control the ball. And Messi has been even more MVP than previously, despite not playing so well.

I say that this years results (roughly in line with what Barcelona did in previous seasons) are better explained with "despite Koeman" than "because of Koeman".

Threw the game today by playing Umtiti and Roberto for 90 mins. WTF? Roberto was by far the worst player on the pitch and gets to play the whole match. Both at fault for numerous chances. Also his sudden sending off at just 1-1 certainly didn't help. He imploded today.
