Fair play to him we are playing better.
But what about mentality in big games? Formations and who he picks? Substitutions? Those are some of the thing’s he’s got wrong this season which stats can’t measure.
Can’t just keep him because we have “highest xG”. All that shows it that the team has great potential and ability to perform well, but doesn’t mean Koeman is the right man. Hopefully another coach could push us to that next level and build on what Koeman has done.
1) Mentality in big games is not where it should be. But is this a problem he created or a problem he inherited and have not solved yet?
2) Subs and game-management is the only thing I agree that Koeman did a bad job thus far. But can't kick him out just because of that, while disregarding the rest.
Subs and game-management is only a cherry on the top. The serious work is done elsewhere.
If only subs and game-management is the quality we look for in a coach, then Zidane is the best coach out there. LOL
3) Your bolded claim is so wrong...
Sooner or late the xG always converges with G.
It's not a parallel reality that some people here think it is.
If you create enough good chances, then your job as a coach is done. You cannot instruct a player how to put the ball in the net when he is 1-1 with the goalie.
He and Schreuder are responsible for this transformation. Credit where it's due..
It's actually the exact opposite of what you say:
Team's ability to perform well is down to the coach, not to the players individually
team's inability to finish off chances is not down to the coach, but to the players individually
