Ronald Koeman

RM have won multiple CL titles in big part thanks to their crossing abilities. There is nothing wrong doing that if you can't break down opponents otherwise. And with this team we clealy lack ideas how to score so can't really blame Koeman. A goal is a goal. Nice goals don't count more than ugly ones.

Teams who win regularly cross and no doubt Barca must also. But our crossing was ridiculous in the beginning before Araujo took over and stepped forward. It's not like we've got a front line of Ronaldo and Benzema.

The thing is we shifted to crosses because Koeman's plan A did not work. We are not attacking well enough since losing Messi, there are no patterns and reliable plays. To be fair to him, we also have zero fast attackers available. We need Ansu and Dembele like air right now.

Will continue to say despite the fact Koeman is not a top manager in the slightest poor results this season are a product of poor squad planning from the board rather than what any coach could do. No coach in the world would have this team challenging for titles, and especially not with fati/dembele/aguero/pedri injured.

Did he have 13 months to introduce ideas into the team?
Why does it seem like they have less ideas now? Spamming crosses for slow Long de Jong, hoping he won't manage to get away from one!
At least Dest is there with the Magic Johnson no-look passes, so that the crowd can be entertained!

If we don't know how to cross we should learn how to do it. To compete for titles now we need to modernise and forget 'barca DNA', we are getting exposed because we have no tactical plans, no physicality, and still hanging onto old principles without the players that made those work.

It'll be a long process of change as we get the old guard out and 'modern' players like Depay etc in. All good things come to an end

I like his no BS approach to pressers

showed some ballz today with his lineup and adjustments. Hopefully, he will switch to using Busi as a supersub against faster team than Granada or we fooooked

and perhaps ask Schreuder to introduce some of 'em triangle plays from his Ajax booklet

When people tell me that the squad is weak and a changing the coach won't do much I simply answer: Niko Kovac's team - Hansi Flick's team. Frank Lampard's team - Thomas Tuchel's team.
We dont have the same squad as Bayern or Chelsea, but it proves what a good manager can do with the same rooster.

Well we can't use an identity that doesn't work anymore. That much is becoming clear over the past few years.

Football is a lot more simple than Barca try to make it at times.

Pace in wide areas, a target in the box at CF and full backs who if left open can put the ball in the box.

Underpinned by a team that all work hard for one another and dont have to cover for others.

Amazing how many basic ideas Barca have neglected in recent years with this idea of what Barca DNA is.

Tonight and the rain of crosses was a bit of a welcome return to normality with that as an option and I for one found it better to watch than the passing going nowhere before it was changed.

I agree, but I just hoped we tried something else earlier, at least in 1st half when we had no one to receive those crosses

It is not even about forgetting about Barca DNA it is about stop basing ideas on it to point of it being a weakness.

Peps best Barca sides crossed the ball. folk used to complain about Alves spamming crosses, they always had pace and movement up top also.

Barca DNA is improved by having full backs that can cross and pace up top as the threat of both is a big part of opening up the games and more space in middle and taking ball higher up the park.

Feels like Barca lost sight of what Barca football is and have taken it to extremes where 'technique' to pass ball is all that matters ahead of work rate, pace, crossing ability, breaking on teams etc.

Poor comparison really as no one ever thought Bayern had anything but one of best squads in world no matter how badly they were doing.

Same with Chelsea they had/have a good squad.

Barcelona on an investigative trip to the Conference league in the summer of 2022 in order to learn how to cross. Koeman has stepped back to let Sam Allardyce take the club to the next level

What 13 months? Messi left 1,5 months ago, you've missed that?

Our whole game was build around him for more than a decade, we can't build a new offensive philosophy over the night. Would be a tough task for any coach even if we'd have better offensive players than we have right now. Things should get better once Ansu and Dembele are back but we shouldn't expect wonders from them as well. Fati has been on the sidelines for a year and until proven otherwise we just can't seriously count on Dembele.
