I think Ronaldinho 05/06 second part of the season wasn't so great, I mean memorable was the pass he gave Giuly on San Siro but didn't shine in 2006 as he did in the years before. He totally lost at the 2006 WC though.

In my opinion the CL final was when the cracks started to show. Because everyone had touted him as one of the greats if he shone in that game and the World Cup. So he tried to do too much that game. The pass to giuly in the move that got lehmann sent off was a great pass, but it wasnt a good game for him. However in the build up to the final he was still awesome. Chelsea at home, milan away.. even in the league he was on top form.

Because ronnie didnt shine on the big stage. There was a big debate on another fcb forum when cannavaro won it..but fact is CL finals and even moreso World cups hold massive weighting for these awards.

True, although it should be given to the player who has performed better over the 12 months or so. I thought it was fair enough to give Cannavaro the award at the time.
