Samuel Umtiti

It is not about making it easier to ship him.

More or less it is Umtiti accepting he is retiring from top level football but may give it one last go with a loan out.

Not much board can do here.

Surely they'd hope that having him on lower wages will encourage an exit for him rather than just paying him until 2026 to do nothing.

Not that there will be a long list of admirers as he's physically shot to bits.

Why would it make it easier to ship him on a lower wage?

Umtiti is not giving up money just spreading it over longer time.

He is not that daft.

Umtiti entourage:

"Samuel feels he's in the best shape since forever, and has convinced Laporta and Xavi that this is all part of the process and he is aiming for Cannavaro 2006 level of determination and ballon d'or glory"

Must be slightly more money but more years.

Crazy that this gets sorted before Sergi Roberto. I guess Sergi Roberto isnt willing to reduce the wage as much.

So he gets the same “15M” in 4 and a half years instead of a year and half. Instead of a 10M per year contract he now gets 3.3M per year. That’s some great business and accounting by our board. It would probably be easier to send him on loan or just sell him.

No it is not 'great business' despite how many will be desperate to make out it is but it may be about only option for them to take.
