Villa is a humble man who wants to win trophies. He was going to part fund the move to us himself last season remember (reportedly). Playing at LW is still a forward role, look how good Henry was there last season. Villa already knows the league, is a better player than Barca Henry has ever been, and has no injury niggles. He'd still rather stay in Spain and Valencia will not sacrifice cashing in on him by refusing to sell to Barca or Real.

Humility has nothing to do with deciding what's best for ones career. Of course he wants to win trophies but he'd rather do it at Madrid or a Top EPL club as the main frontman than as a LW at Barca. He was close to joining Madrid last summer and had the negotiations not stalled, he'd be a Madrid player now. We only came in to the frame much later, so it's not like he rejected them for us. Seeing, he was very keen on staying in Spain due to personal reasons(birth of his second child), it didn't come as a surprise (atleast to me) that he was willing to fund his transfer to us after his failed move to Madrid.(the only 2 who can afford him in spain). More importantly, he knew he'd be replacing Eto'o not Henry.
Things are much diff this time. He is open to an EPL move(as there are no hinderances on his personal front) who can outbid us for him including Madrid next summer. Besides, he'd know he'll be replacing Henry if he came here while he could play his natural position elsewhere.
And, I just don't think he figures in Pep's plans anymore.
If Valencia decide not to sell to spain's big 2 again, and there is a big offer from EPL, knowing it'll probably be his last opportunity for a big move to win titles on club level, he'll take it up.
He can't dictate his move just he like couldn't the last time.

Sorry, won't happen.

I am Leg End
Said it once and I will say it again, unfortunately for us, Torres would be perfect to replace Henry. He can grow into that position, plus his development in england, plus his goalscoring abilities, well if I was Pep He'd be my No.1 priority considering our financial position.

Torres-Ibra-Messi

Iniesta-JM-Xavi

LB CB CB RB

GK

Doesn't get much more perfect than that.

You meant Xavi in the second line right? How can you forget him!

Except Yaya > Masch

Torres and Ibra could swap positions, I'm sure Ibra would be great on the wing. Dream signing.

The why can't we get Villa, they would swap too. Villa is superb at build up play. When Morientes was palying he got the highest number of assists.

Torres would be one of the worst replacements for henry, when compared to the players we have been liked with to replace him.

Villa
Ribery
Robinho
Suarez
ashavin
would all be a better fit to the LF position.

their is nothing about his game, that suggest he will strive as a LF nothing at all. he would have been a good player to replace eto'o, but not henry.

Villa has all that is necessary to do the job, the chances of him being the main front man at real is just as slim as it is at Barca, not with Higuain and ronaldo there.

I wholeheartedly disgree with you zanela. As Chris said, Real have top quality frontment already, he's not guaranteed a place there. United's finances are fucked, Liverpool's aren't much better (could they afford Villa anyway?), Chelsea can't buy, Arsenal won't buy, doubt he'd move to City tbh.

Villa 'll bench GH at Madrid. And, Madrid have already shown in the past that they favour their big money signings for the starting spot as hap with Benzene initially, even though GH was coming at the back of a great season. It's just that the fatty flopped for them. We all know DV won't. And, the ladyboy 'll operate on the wings/in a free role or upfront with DV unless there is a change of tactics to have the ladyboy as a lone striker. DV 'll still be their main striker if he goes to them.

We definitely need someone with pace as we lost much of it with Eto departure. Having another slowish forward as Ibra would be a major setback for our pressure style of play.

DV 'll move to one of Chelsea, United (regardless of finances, if ferge wants him he 'll get him), Liverpool(we 'll be funding them by buying Gascherano) or Madrid.
He won't come to us and u can quote me on that.

If he did, i'll be extremely delighted and ecstatic of course. :)

How will Chelsea buy him when they're banned? Seriously take a look at United's finances. Yes the likes of Nani will be sold to give extra funds, but they need more than one top striker and Villa will cost a lot. It'll be a straight fight between us and Madrid, assuming both compete.

Damn! i completely forgot about Chelsea's ban.

Didn't stop fergie from buying an overrated bulgarian for 30+. He could even offload him to fund the transfer. So, u never know. Although, i reckon, fatty benzene could move to Manu making way for Villa to Madrid.

The point u ppl are forgetting is that Pep is more interested in signing Silva or Robinwho for our LWF role. And, i'vnt read anything to suggest that he still wants Villa. And, at the end of the day it really all comes down to him(as we've come to see in the last transfer window). Not what u, me or the presidential candidate promises...and i don't think Pep 'll even renew his contract if the next president isn't in line with his ideas.(the footballing aspects)
Pep seems to want Cesc & sandro is promising Cesc....I've even read that Pep's renewal is dependant on Cesc's signing. So, i really dunno what to make of it.

Pep's contract is a big issue and whether he's at Barca still will have a major impact. I do think madrid are front runners for Villa, as you said Benzema may well be sold to Man U for maybe £25m, and they'll move for Villa to replace him.I can really see us moving for Robinho quite honestly.
