Yeah Agger is a good experienced campaigner. But my thoughts go to Vincent Kompany, but Man City will never agree to sell him.

Its exactly the same case as Thiago Silva,City doesn't need money and Kompany said he would like to say.

From watching him on youtube I don't think he is what we need in defence. If he came and did prove to be a good partner to Pique then fair enough but if he comes in as a backup along with another centre back then he'll only hold back Bartra.

There'll be no holding back if Mascherano get switched back to the midfield. There are so many matches to play in one season and Bartra will get enough playing times. Barca badly needs more depth in the squad. Compare to the other big clubs in Europe Barca's squad is pretty thin and with the style that Martino play there'll be needed a squad with enough players to rotate for a full season.

We don't know if he will get switched back into midfield though and even if he is he will probably still remain an option at centre back. Pique, Puyol, Bartra, Masch, Vergini and another centre back is a lot of players if they all remain fit. Barta would most likely receive the least amount of playing time. Maybe Tata will like him though it's hard to say...

I'm not really counting on Puyol anymore. Injuries never left him alone in the last years. Excluding Mascherano Barca now has only two actual CBs: Pique and Bartra. Knowing Pique's decline in the last 2 years and the other one still being raw it's crazy to go into this season with not enough quality and quantity at the back. It will come back to hunt us down once again.

I disagree.
Pique is a really great defender but only if he is motivated to give his best on the pitch. Let's wait what Tata will do with him. But IMO Pique is still a player we should not sell.
Its not easy you know to motivate someone like him to put his head right...hes been bad for 2 seasons in a row.With the already trophies he won and his reputation,he needs a manger to not afraid benching him...But i see him having serious problems at times,he isn't so good in 1vs1 or strong in aerial battles.
Its still not sure that he would work hard for his place if a defender was brought...
