Saul Niguez

I don't see why Saul is in discussion at the moment. As things stand. Messi can't be resigned unless a lot of players leave, and all of Aguero, Garcia, Depay and Royal are still not officially registered to La Liga because Barca has to sell key players. And said key players do not want to leave apparently. It's already an alarming situation, even without Saul.

Perhaps best resolution to free up even half the wage if Saul agrees to join for a fraction of what Griez is on? Since nobody is outright willing to take Griezmann otherwise

we can't sell griezmann to anyone as he's on massive wages and prefers living in spain.

saul woud be good rotation in midfield.

overall we are getting fucked, but it was always going to happen once we payed 120M on griezmann and gave him 20M net salary.

I think if we get rid of Griezmann, Coutinho and Umtiti and Messi's rumored pay cut of 50% is true, then we will be fine.

Assuming any of the below are anywhere near truth:

Messi's 50% pay cut takes it down to 26m net per year = 26M saved
Getting rid of Griezmann on 20M net per year, while bringing in Saul to have aroundabout same wage as he had (~10-12) = 8-10 M saved
Coutinho is on what, 15-20? Assuming anyone takes him
Umtiti on around ~8
Pjanic around 8-10?
Fernandes was on how much? 5?

That saves you somewhere in the ball park of 65-75 million per year.
And that's before you consider what the new signings will take out of the savings.

Considering you need to make massive cuts from somewhere in the region of 250-350 being spent on the entire squad to make that 160 million La Liga cap for this season, I don't see how you can keep Messi. Unless Tebas meets you halfway and gives you an exemption

Why would you calculate it as saving the net part of the salary and not gross?

If Messi was getting 100m gross previously and it is halved surely that is 50m saved and not just what was paid as net salary.

Don't know, it's completely back of the envelope so don't claim to be accurate. Calculate as gross then. What does it work out to?
Just didn't sound like keeping Messi in any shape, while trying to make that cap, AND adding players is in any way plausible.

Yes. This will be super shityy deal. We will regret in one month.

If this is the only deal on table.. damn. Not sure what to do. I guess Messi plus Saul is still better than Griez and nobody.

Any deal where Griezmann is leaving is a good deal for Barca atm.

No idea of the actual salaries or what is still due to be reduced but cant see why it would be calculated as net salary rather than gross.

Point taken.
Double everything for a better estimate to add tax.
Don't see it makes a difference in the grand scheme of things.

Even just playing around with numbers you can think of salaries along the lines of:
Griezmann = Saul + Depay
Coutinho = Aguero + Garcia

Then saving 50% of Messi salary plus anyone else you wanna bin (Pjanic, Umtiti, Fernandes) still doesn't sound like it'll take you near that 160 number. Will take a negotiation with Tebas + maybe pay a fine proportional to how much you end up over the limit while allowing you to register everyone you need.

Its very easy.
-First we need to free 100-120M for Memphis-Aguero-Emerson-Eric. Between all of them earn around 25-30M. So by the rule of 25% you need to free wages x4.
-After that, all wages you free can be used for Messi with the same rule.

Gross it is, not net, for sure.
The club books include income and expenses. Gross player salary is part of expenses

Pjanic 2.0 at the age of 26 getting 12m gross...

Laporta has the hard task of cleaning Barto's shit, but this is too much crap to digest

Saul getting 12m gross is a great deal considering we're paying Sergi Roberto almost that. Umtiti is on more as well.
