Sergi Roberto

I had some optimism about him ending up as a decent Midfield option if the conditions are right as in if he is surrounded by other players/Midfielders who can do the majority of the work on the ball for him while he uses his strengths off the ball such as work rate.

But today showed just how bad some of his deficiencies are as a CM especially with the ball. He needs to much time and space to think about what he needs to do with the ball and this is coming from a guy who came through La Masia.

If he has the time and space and he isn't getting pressed while playing CM, he can pull off a ball like the assist he gave to Suarez in the Gamper trophy. But he won't get that space and time as a CM most of the time.

He's a good option to fill in the spaces that Messi has left.

However, if Messi is not on the team, he's kinda useless. I would have taken him off instead of Alena.

Roberto is a useful squad player for a top team like Barca. Perez is Mallorca level at best. For now he is even Segunda level.

Segunda winger is still 10 times a better option than Roberto winger, "good squad player" isn't an excuse to play that backward possession garbage in a team that is supposed to win every game by multiple goals.
