Sergiño Dest

No surprises here, PSV have decided not to use their buy option but Peter Bosz said they want Dest back and will negotiate with Barca. We'll probably just let him go for free and include % of future sale.

Here we go.

FC Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Sergiño Dest. FC Barcelona retains a percentage of any future sale.

Unlucky he got injured so we can't get actual fee for him but at least one player less to worry about.

Eh, can't blame Bartomeu too much here tbf. He was a sensible signing at that time that just didn't work out. Would definitely get something for him if he wouldn't get injured too.

“I wouldn’t say I regret it, because in the end it wasn’t something that depended on me, but I don’t feel like I had the necessary opportunities with Xavi. I felt like I had to play within limits, that I wasn’t myself. I wanted to join the attack, because that’s my greatest virtue, but he asked me not to go up,” he told Sport.
“I don’t think he was honest with me. We had several conversations where he told me one thing but then I doubted whether it was really true. In the summer, before going on holiday, he told me “I’m counting on you, don’t read the press.” And as soon as I got back, he told me “you have to go.””

“It was an incredible and wonderful experience. I will always carry Barça in my heart. It was a shame that it had to end like this because I felt I could still be useful to the club. But when a new coach arrives and has his ideas you can’t change them,” he added.

He confirmed what many noticed. Xavi'd system was too rigid. Also, not a good look on Xavi re. his fake promise.

There is an argument that Xavi made the promise before the levers, so he expected that he will have to use him. After that he was told we can get Kounde so he told Dest to fuck off.

He could have more diplomatic from the start, but well, he know how it feels now for sure.

Of course, circumstances have to be considered. And it is true that squad liked Xavi.

Truer words have never been spoken

Shows also how limited Xavi's tactical understanding was.
I feel Flick could have unleased a monster in Dest.
Now the moment is gone, he was injured long-term anyways.
The imperative of a proper (attacking) RB is still there THO.
Kounde ain't an RB, and won't become one

You're welcome
to play devil’s advocate: False promises seem to be name of game for coaches and presidents alike. Whether players will bring it up depends on current perception of said coach. Usually they wait for him to fall before making comments like these. Not blaming Dest though. He seems to try and speak about it as respectful as possible to all parties.
