There is absolutely no chemistry between Agüero and Messi. Agüero's typical move is running the channels and trying to get into scoring positions. He wants those through balls all the time which is not a bad thing in general of course. But Messi is better when there is someone in front of him who is able to play with his back to the opposition goal. A #9 that does more things: Searching for 1-2s, drifting across the opponent's back line to open up space (horizontal movement without the ball by a striker is so underrated) and making deep runs.
Most of Messi's through balls are diagonal passes to a LW, not the central striker.
