Sergio Busquets

Man can stay only if he accepts a bench role (like 14/15 Xavi), never as an starter or as an important core of the team anymore.

He is still good in possession and has intelligent use of the ball but his recovery and mobility really costs us in games like this away from home. Thank fuck we signed de jong

Liverpool reduced to 13 shots at Anfield when desperate.
I am on Busquets side in both his performance on attack and defence. Football is a team sport and Busquets did his job.

Please turn him into a full time bench player next season. Please. He was shockingly slow tonight. Like beyond embarrassing. And it’s only gonna get worse with age. He needs to become an emergency sub to shore up the game in the last 10 minutes, next season

As King_Messi said, Father time has not been too kind to him.

That's why I'm not on board with the idea that a DM successor to Busi has to be just like him. I would love to have a DM who is not only strong on the ball but also someone that can provide much more energy, pace, and steel while the likes of Arthur, FDJ, Puig, Alena, etc doing more of the heavy lifting with the ball.

Not talking about a complete destroyer in the vein of Casemiro for Real but someone perhaps like Yaya Toure was when he was here.

👍

A player like what Fernandinho is at City would be my ideal

I'm not sure what he's good at anymore. He used to be press resistant abd incredible at moving the ball quickly.

Now it takes him an eternity to turn and pass the ball. He's also completely useless defensively and so ineffective under pressure.

If there was a player not named Sergio Busquets playing like he is, nobody would rate him. Lives so much off reputation

Busquets has never had much more pace than this. If our Dembele and Malcom were flying down the wings scoring goals with Messi then then Busquets wouldn't be an issue. Our midfielders need forwards that make runs, not some silly slow build up play

Only now people see the light. Used to be saying this way before today that he is way past the top level and should retire.

You and i, and a few others, have been saying it for ages. For some reason Barcelona fans seem to think their players are immune to a decline because of their fooTbAll Iq. It only takes 2 embarrassing CL comebacks for them to realise, but hey not complaining.

Should have started phasing him out in the Lucho era but better late than never!

This should be his last season as a starter for us. Sorry it has come to this but his head and skills can't cover for his slowpoke ass anymore. He is probably the physically slowest starter for a top team in the world. Funnily enough he has competition from his partner in crime Rakitic. smh
