I was disappointed tbh, Iniesta did a much better job drawing fouls and getting the dirty Dutch the yellow cards they were asking for.

tbh though he was absolutely stalwart as basically a lone DM. the job he did helping to close robben down was immense and robben only got any joy when he came central and exposed puyol's lack of pace.

I hardly even noticed him on the pitch. but more importantly, I hardly noticed Wesley Sneijder as well.

excellent job by Sergio yesterday. In the two biggest games of his life (CL Final v ManUtd, WC Final v Netherlands) the man was immense. absolutely immense.

now ... can we avoid the regression experienced at the start of last season please Sergio?

More importantly, for me, I saw little of the antics of his that has made him reviled...I did see him make a very familiar mistake in a dangerous position with that careless attempt at a pass that Spain were lucky not see result in a goal...Then again, even Iker almost screwed up on that long ball into the box

at 28 mins 30-odd seconds into extra time elia breaks away down the left.

not only does busquets catch him and stop him from cutting inside, but he performs a superb drag-back to get the ball under his control (i.e. he is between elia and the ball) and allow for ramos to come and take it clockwise around his body as elia is trying to get around counter-clockwise.

Yip, i remember that bit. However, didnt put a foot wrong after that if i recall correctly. Every now and again, he makes mistakes like that but he is still young and i think those kind of mistakes will be erased as he gains more and more experience.
