Sergio Ramos slipped up on Social networks this Monday when he congratulated Spain's women's water polo team for the gold medal it won almost a month ago at the World Championships in Barcelona: "Time to rest after watching the women's water polo team win. Congratulations girls!"

In the run-up to Real Madrid's league match against Granada, the Spanish international defender was in the team's hotel watching a repeat of the final against Australia (8-6) being broadcast on Teledeporte.

At the end of the broadcast, Sergio Ramos sent his congratulations via Twitter as though the game had been played live and not 24 days earlier, as was the case.

Spanish international water polo player, Jennifer Pareja saw the funny side of Ramos' slip-up and responded via the same social network: "Lol, we're very grateful @Sergio Ramos. What are you like? The lad probably hadn’t had time."
