How is Di Maria inconsistent, exactly?
He usually does well, he is a great chance creator and provides lots of assists.

As for Chiesa, Juventus probably relies too much on him now.

Always thought Di Maria, for the type of talent he is, should have scored a lot more. Maybe I rate him too highly and therefore call him inconsistent. In my opinion he was the most genuinely terrifying player we faced in Clasicos in recent history.

Never a consistent goalscorer, not just his game, but he is still a consistent game changer regardless.

Don't want to reduce my argument to only goalscoring though. He's a 10/10 in a handful of games per season and a 5/10 for the rest. At least that was always my impression.

If Di Maria were not injured in the WC 14 final, think Argentina could have won the WC

He was a HUGE miss. IMO, because of his terrible year at Man United people forgot that he was probably the 3rd best RM player in 13/14 (even 2nd can be argued with Bale).

To me, he's right on the cusp of "legend" material. Maybe 1 more big trophy and his resume would be up there.

Di Maria is usually at least a 6 or 7/10 when he starts at the RW.

At LW his ceiling is 6/10. He's hot garbage whipping in one useless cross after the other at that side.

I guess my point is that he should have dominated a lot more. He was a real menace on his day, not just a 5-6-7/10.

Not every player have that type of consistency tbh. In fact I'd say it's quite rare. Most have 2-4 great years with the rest being average.

Di Maria is like top 3 when it comes to assists last decade, i'd say that is consistent enough, not everyone is a natural goalscorer.
