What box-to-box?

Are you being serious about this?

When did Keita carry the ball from box-to-box? When did he even make a limited forward run with the ball at his feet? When did he put on a good tackle tonight? He only gave some sideways passes, lost the ball without much pressure, attempted nothing, and deservedly got booked for a clumsy challenge.

I have nothing against the man, I am baffled by Pep here, and I am honestly telling you, with confident certainty that Keita is not nearly good enough for Barca.

If some people love his personality, his eyes or the way he dresses, that is besides the point. In football terms, Keita has nothing to do with Barca, let alone CL quarterfinals at the San Siro.

He did his job. These stats are from the fcb live app. There's more, and in one thing he wasn't good, the duels, where he only won 20%. He also only misplaced 4 passes. He was not the worse player, nor was invisible as you are saying.

2. He pressed pretty well actually, he might not have been the most active presser but he didn't just stand there, which i know you will argue since you don't know how to shut up.

3. He had the highest pass completion rate in our team, and on the whole pitch for that matter.

4. Keita is valuable, he's humble, respectful and skilled, traits that every footballer should have. But I don't suppose you appreciate anything that doesn't cost millions, and looks like the definition of retarded, you'd fit better with the capital club then Casillas himself.

Thank you so much for these points, a few minutes ago i had written up a big post like that, I was about to post but then I thought forget it, debating constructively with this guy is impossible. This guy just likes to repeat himself and never gets the point, he uses emotions and his basest instincts to arrive at conclusions and always looks for the easiest answers, ironically he's always accusing others of doing this and he always questions others intellect. The 2nd point in your post just proves this, dalitis' argument of keita misplacing passes goes out of the windows and it's totally baseless, keita did a great job defensively and with his pressing, i don't know how anybody would miss this. I actually wanted to ask somebody to dig up the pass completion stats to see if dalitis theory of Keita missing passes was valid or not, clearly he made it up himself to add substance his flawed argument.

Dalitis is under the impression that it takes a brilliant mind to realise that keita is not the most skillful and technical player on the planet (same as he thinks that he deserves a nobel prize for saying cesc is talented when cesc has been regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world for the past 5 years) but dalitis has no understanding of team values. The understanding of which is as important as realising technical abilities, this is exactly why Pep starts Keita....but this dalitis guy simply doesn't get how a guy like pep sees things and how he values his team and players, which is much more difficult thing to do than assemble the 11 most technical/skillful player. Dalitis also says things like: "people like keita through emotion and personal attachment" and while this may be true, the exact same reason is the explanation of his keita hate, he hears keita's name and straight away he uses his emotions (not logical reasoning) and starts berating keita, this is all evident if you go and read his posts in the match thread as soon as he saw keita in the starting XI. Anyways, I'm seriously done replying to that guy, I used to thing other people were harsh on him on his forum, but I can seriously why people are harsh on him.

Pep could bring on Cesc, or pushed Iniesta to midfield when bringing on Tello..
but why he subbed Iniesta...?
because the better thing to do in this kinda match is to play cautious..
the pitch is not favoring is, neither does the opponent tactics...
player like Keita is to help keep balance,
Keita did not make key passes , yes, but he did not lose the ball..not only perfect passes, he did not lose the ball when pressed by opponent.
for not scoring....
All Messi , Xavi, Iniesta, and Alves failed to make key passes..

yes man... Good post.

Pep said in the press conference that the main aim in the second half was not to concede and avoid injuries because of the really bad turf... Explains, to an extent, why Iniesta(not Keita) & Alexis were subbed out, remember both of them are really injury prone, and why Cesc was not brought on.

God the knee jerk reactions in here!!

It's like arguing with a brick wall. He claims to be intelligent but doesn't posses one of the most valuable traits to an intelligent man, to see things outside of his own perspective which is deluded with hate. As posted above you there is facts that Keita actually did a great job on pressing and passing all over the pitch, but I bet you he will return soon and not even glance at that. He thinks that you can just build a team with superstars and ignore the human factors, as if this was some kind of a video-game. I however agree that Iniesta should have taken Keitas place in the last 20 minutes or Cesc be substituted in since a goal wouldn't hurt, but I'm not going to claim myself more experienced than Pep.

Dalitis is like that semi-retarded kid in your class. Extremely annoying but not retarded enough for you to feel sorry for him, and every time the teacher says something completely unrelated, he will just begin to throw chairs and scream "SESK IS THA BEST!!!!".

To be clear I'm not saying he's really mentally challenged, it's just a very accurate metaphor.:pep:

exactly, if pep did what he did vs inter 2010 in san siro and went out all attacking and we ended up losing 3-1, people wouldn't have forgiven him then would they? People would be bashing him and accsing him of getting it wrong, he was cautious which is totally understandable given the opposition, and we got a good result, 0-0 at one of the most intimidating venues against one of the biggest teams on the planet, add to that the pitch conditions. some people here are too used to winning.

7 recovered balls!!! WOW!!!

Lots of backpasses to boot!!!

He lost almost all of his duels, and did not thing going forward. Did not provide any outlet for Xavi whatsoever, and you are telling me that he played well.

Alright.

How many recovered balls do you expect when your team has 65% possession and most of Milan's possession was direct? Jesus fucking christ.

The Keita thread might be the best place to understand who the real Barca fans are.

It is a fact that he's not uber-talented like Messi, Iniesta or even, yes, Cesc. But his contribution is still incredibly valuable on (and off) the pitch)

Keita is humble, hardworking, reliable and always gives his 200% for the team. He basically epitomizes what our club is all about, our values.

IMHO, those who don't like/hate Keita are either supporting the wrong club or are just in it for the glory. It might be a generalization, but I don't think I'm far from the truth. I doubt that those who slag Keita understand the values of the club.
