Failing to be a starter when Holding, Luiz, Mari etc are getting minutes is not a great sign of him being all that highly rated.

Played last season, injured at the start this year and rotated in for Europa. If he were unwanted he'd be dropped altogether than played in the one comp that might get Arsenal a spot in CL.

Depends what mean by 'unwanted'. Do they see him as so bad wont play at all? No. Do they rate him as a starting CB this season? Not so far.

Do they want him to play a part in their future? Maybe if agreed to a very low contract and as a back up most likely but cant see anything more.

Barca if had a heap of Europa League games to play reserve in would probably play likes of Umtiti. Even if not wanted at club for future. Wouldnt put too much importance on those games to point to how players are rated at clubs.

If you're Arsenal Europa is important to get through, it's their best CL spot hope. Especially when you're this off form in the league. Can't just play anyone, only those you know can do a job. Could also discuss whether Arteta even makes a sensible choice dropping him in league in favour of the others, considering the result contrast dating back to Arteta hire when Mustafi got back into starting lineup is stark enough. Then again I dont know what Arteta priority was with casting him out considering he got the job done for him

For sure they care about result enough to ensure qualification in the middle of shit league run, even more so now they find themselves in a terrible position having to gain back ground on the rest of the pack.

Mustafi is hardly the level of the other lot you mentioned anyway. Been horrendous for Arsenal for the most part but not a panic transfer the others were, was good enough to get in German NT and solid for other clubs. Not the level Barca should aspire to tho

Arsenal do want to get through Europa and know they can get through against likes of Dundalk, Molde and Vienna with reserves.

What we know is that Arteta this season rates Mustafi behind Holding, Luiz and most recently Mari.

Do they want to keep him for future I doubt it as he is seen as 4th choice in a group of poor CBs.
