Actually its the opposite Prime Ronnie was suffering chronic depression. Nowadays he is not taking snooker as seriously because finally he found some sort of hapiness ! Thats what he says in Interviews. he trains 3 times a week as opposed to everyday when he was younger.

to play, not. to play good, to some extent. To still dominate everything, yes.
Hendry the player with the most world championships, and (imo) the second best player ever, retired exactly at this age 43, because he had no longer what it takes to compete and his results drastically went down.

Snooker, very much like chess are Concentration/stamina sports. Even though a casual would think they are armchair sports, these two sports performances are correlated with age and physique. What ronnie achieves now is exceptional. And he does skip some tournaments because he wants to save himself for big events. this year, he pretty much participated in 1/2 tournaments.
