Wasnt he a huge talented Barca prospect at one point?

Also Xavi Simons not turning out the way people wanted.

Almost none of the overhyped players who have left us as teenagers have made much out of their careers.

Cesc was the one who had the best career outside of Barca but when we brought him back he wasn't exactly what we expected/wanted.

The next one is probably Icardi who's a good player but wouldn't fit here profile wise and also seems to have personal issues. So not missing much on him leaving early either.

Olmo is also good but he needed 5-6 years of regularly playing for a dominant team in Croatian league to develop into what he's today. If he'd stay here for a few more years he probably wouldn't become as good and he'd leave years ago.

There is still a jury out on some of the players who have left recently but for all the complaining over the years in general we've managed to keep the best La Masia kids at home. And we brought some of those who have left the club like Pique and Alba back for (almost) nothing and they were both very successfull here eventhough they weren't exactly set the world on fire in their previous clubs (well, Pique especially, Alba was quite good with Valencia). At least if they're compared to someone like Cesc who was amongst the best midfielders in the EPL from a very young age. Eric Garcia will probably be the next one brought back home for cheap and hopefully he could go down the same road as Pique.

Folk went overboard as it was Real he went to. Looked sharp in some games last season made it worse.

Xavi Simons is probably doing better at PSG than was expected to really and on verge of their first team and they are trying to get him on a new contract.

Villarato!
Real's still get 50% of player rights though
More a PR stunt since in June they got a new Japanese sponsor

Hope he enjoys his "we deserved to win"-trophy, another one in an increasingly growing list.

Oh, and he need not come back.

La Masia prospects have been overhyped as hell these past 12 or so years.

Deulofeu and Adama are probably the two who've had the most successful careers

This is a random ass post lol
Eh, might as well make it here.

This is like one of the most egregious examples of this forum hyping up some random youngster for no reason at all

Although now that I think about it the Puig thread would probably have been better.

You obviously don't really know what you are talking about

I mean, almost everything he said was mentioned with sound reasoning.

Except him believing Eric might come back and not be trash. That aint happening. But everything else was kind of spot on.

Eric was more a wishful thinking. I was never too big on him but ready to give him a chance in a shitty situation we were in when he was signed.

Not a bad player and far from a disastrous signing but just not good enough. If we can get some money for him from Girona then I'll consider it a success.

No problem.;)

Grimaldo: I know he had a great season and we could clearly use him (although at the same time I believe Xabi's system made him look better and he wouldn't be nearly as good here - would obviously take him over Cancelo and don't even have to talk about Malonso though) but at the time he left there was no way for him to get minutes ahead of Alba who was in his prime years and had great understanding with Messi.

He was also in Benfica for 7 years and linked with a move to bigger clubs almost every transfer window but nothing happened despite a lack of good full backs (especially LBs) on the market for years. So probably no top club rated him enough to pull a trigger.

So for me Grimaldo is a good to very good player who just had a great season in a "full back happy system" but retrospectively looking not really someone that we missed out too much during the years.

Thiago: yeah, that was a feck up. We could have used him after Xavi left. Not sure how many good seasons we would get out of him due to constant injuries though.

Even Dembele would be proud of that injury history, lol. It's clear he's finished now but even during his time at Bayern he missed many games.

Every club will have some players that got away but I'll take losing Grimaldo and Thiago while keeping Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Busi and Pedro and also bringing back Pique and Alba for relatively cheap.

I remember being upset when likes of Gai Assulin or Iago Falque left, lol. And where are they now?

If there is one good thing this club has done over the last 15-20 years is evaluating and keeping the best homegrown talent (it's true some of them have stayed for too long but that's another debate). Hopefully it will continue with next generation(s) because we need La Masia now more than ever.
