The Dutch Eredivisie

As a PSV fan, I hope Ajax drop points today.

I actually went to RKC-PSV yesterday, since it was in my home town. PSV looked very vulnerable at the back, not unlike last season. I heard Twente played excellent today, and they should be a real challenger for the title as well. Their back four looks more solid than PSV's, and they've got some real quality with Tadic, amongst others.

Really bummed about the PSV result, but happy Ajax and AZ drawed with the 2-2. PSV incredibly vulnerable at the back, as Jesse mentioned. Marcelo looking worse than ever this weekend, Bouma not only over his top but even approaching his worst appearance he has made in a long, long while. Strootman is a great player, but he should stick with playing football and shouldn't be so hyped up the entire time. Ruins with his head and messes up his play.

ah OK I see. So big shame for Feyenoord that they lost to Kyiv. It would have been nice to have more Dutch teams in the group stage this season.

Europa League is filled with us Dutch teams haha. Really wish we could go to 3 places, or at least consistently 2 in the group stages but I do not see that happening in the near future. And to be honest, with the Europa League pay I'd just skip that competition, Ajax are getting almost double the money of the Europa League winner by getting the media fees. Come on.

What I noticed about Strootman as well is that he wanted to play too close to Van Bommel. He should've been higher up the pitch. Now, PSV had two players - Strootman and Van Bommel - doing the same job in midfield - coming close to the defense to pass the ball towards a winger/full back, mostly Willems. Strootman isn't PSV's most defensive midfielder anymore, so he should be more ambitious with his positioning, especially against weaker teams like RKC Waalwijk.

How good is this league these days?

If you was to compare teams to other leagues? I'll probably try check out some games this season

Well, the Eredivisie is obviously not one of the top 3 leagues in Europe. But the majority of teams plays very offensively, using the full width of the pitch and attacking with many players. This makes games crazily open at times, which makes for a spectacle. Last season, we witness a 6-4, a 4-2 and a 3-3, for example. And since top teams like Ajax and PSV have a relatively bad defense, they can easily lose against a weaker side, as PSV showed this weekend by losing to a club expected to fight against relegation.

Technically, it's a decent league, with a lot of offensive teams. Even average teams like Heracles Almelo play decent football. People often say that the Dutch league is one of the more entertaining leagues in Europe, because the results can be hard to predict. Teams can be very naive tactically; even relegation-zone sides often try to play offensively. But if you like games in which there are many goals, you'll probably like the Eredivisie.

Sounds good, how would you rate Ajax compared to a top team in La Liga or England for example? Saw they sold Vertonghen to Spurs this window

Top 6 material in La Liga/Prem, Top 8,10?

Hard to say. Top 8 probably. But they would probably struggle against La Liga/PL teams in the top 8, because Ajax likes to play very offensively, but they don't have a defense capable of defending a result. They are prone to counters and set pieces. But Ajax was very unlucky not to progress in the CL last year, due to Dinamo Zagreb's enormous downfall in 45 minutes. People are still pissed about that. But then, they still had Vertonghen and Anita. This year, they look weaker defensively, but better offensively.
