Ronaldo is possibly the greatest striker to play for Barça, just as Maradona was the greatest player but niether was the greatest for Barça. This poll is an abomination by the way, it's basically just the greatest striker since the 1990s and totally ignores Samitier, Kubala, Krankl and all time leading scorer César.

He is the greatest .. if you kept him and didn't sell him to Inter he would have broken every single record ..
however during the season he proved himself.. he terrorized every single club without exception ..

Romario is up there.. it's very difficult picking one of them..Barca had great forwards through out their history .. but it's impossible picking one the 2 R's

regarding 20's 30's 40's names it's really tough considering them especially with the way games were played names like Paulino Alcántara i can't really consider him..

I'll try and find some vids or gifs of some of their goals. If anyone has them please post them here, we can learn alot more about them that way...

I'm glad to see some of the old guys such as Paulino Alcántara, César Rodríguez and László Kubala were brought up. Too often fans know the players from recent decades, but those whose shoulders the more recent legends stand on are sadly forgotten. :beer2:

You started a good debate that led to some great info about some of the old legends. :beer2:

I think Barca should release videos of all these past legends of the club so that all the fans can watch and get to know these players.

I think Ronaldo is the greatest striker there has ever been. As much as I hate Madrid, I think the only time I actually have enjoyed watching them was when Ronaldo was on form there, that fantastic game against Man Utd in the CL comes to mind, his hatrick was stunning. He's an icon, he might be fat now, but there is not a player more synonymous with the game in general in my opinion. Even Pele, amazing as he was, for me wasnt as good as Ronaldo has been. Thats an interesting question though....how good would Pele be now?

Well Ronaldinho isn't a striker and Kluivert was good in his time but wouldn't be at the top of anybody's "best ever" list.

Ronaldiho played on the left wing but I feel off that list he in his short period was amazing for Barca so I voted Ronaldinho .

That 3 year period he performed above the level of any footballer that has ever lived.

Ronaldo for me. I am biased through romanticism because he was the reason i supported fcb, but you cant argue with his stats. CA said he wasn't at his best for us, but you cant argue with a goal-a-game ratio, especially when we weren't even the strongest side in the league (madrid won the title that year). The older players (alcántara, kubala, samitier etc) are hard for me to judge because i haven't watched them over the course of a season. I just know their stats and have seen clips of them.

Yes he was amazing. However because of the fact he didnt do it internationally or in the CL final, plus his downfall, and also the media circus surrounding him, you will find many culés (myself included) not vote for him.

You misunderstand Maz, I meant that he wasn't the best striker in our history despite the fact that he may be the best striker in the history of the game. There's no question that he was phenomenal whilst at Camp Nou but he only did it for one season in blaugrana so isn't a viable option in my eyes.

Yes but as you correctly state, he played on the left wing, therefore not a striker and shouldn't even be on the poll despite some reasonable arguments in favour of him being one of Barça's greatest ever players.

It depends what you mean by striker though. That sounds odd, but Ronaldinho to an extent was a striker, he played in almost the same role Henry plays now, I think he was just a Left striker, albeit a push further back than Henry. Its almost the same with Messi, neither of them are out and out strikers, but score huge amounts of goals, equivalent to that of a striker, and play in the position of where a left or right striker would play. I think they are too attacking to be considered wingers, maybe they started out as them, but similarly to C.Ronaldo, turned into attackers as time has progressed. And yeh, I know what you mean, its just that both had a huge amount of fans from their time at Barca so thought they might have got votes. =] got one vote each now though.

So somebody thinks that Patrick Kluivert is the greatest Barça striker in history? That's highly amusing

By the way, I think there's a pretty clear distinction between a striker (an all out goalscorer) and a wide forward which is what Ronaldinho and Messi are. Thierry Henry played as a striker for Arsenal but doesn't usually for Barça
