as good as he is, I don't think he's the perfect compliment to Piqué. it'd be like the days of Piqué/Rafa. 99% of the game it looks like we're barely even trying to defend and the opponent is just overpowered by sexy machismo, but then there's that 1% where they're too busy admiring their own reflections in the eyes of the fans and then, bam! some striker's nipped in to score.
David Luiz, being a mini-Puyol, is a better fit. except he's a bit TOO mental. plus he's at Chelsea now so forget it.
but someone like that. someone aggressive and vocal. I know Abidal is laid back, like Piqué, but he's more experienced so doesn't fall asleep as much and is lightning fast so has the ability to recover even if he does.
frankly I don't think we need a CB just yet. we have 3 top-class options. and then Badger & Busquets can cover there, Bartra looks quite promising and then there's Gomez and Muniesa as well. you'd figure at least 1 of those 3 will make the grade. seems needless squad stacking to add someone there when midfield and attack are more pressing areas of concern re: depth.
we'll need to sign a CB next year probs. but that'll really be it.

I think Thiago Silva and Pique would be wonderful. Believe it or not, Puyol has always been faster off the line than Pique. Pique can cover an opponent over distance but someone with acceleration can usually get around him. Pique is a beast in the air and has good positioning. Thiago Silva is LIGHTNING fast and is a WARRIOR like Puyol. He has the pace to clean up messes and cover speedy opponents, not to mention he's just getting better and better. He's great at passing as well and would adapt to Barca's defensive style easily. IMO I don't really see a better option. Luiz would of been good as well but he's still a bit reckless, far more than the other 3 mentioned.

There is absolutely no need to buy Thiago Silva at the moment. We have the best CB partnership in the world with Pique-Puyol and though Puyol is getting older we still have amazing cover in Abidal (who has been stunning this last year). So we don't really even need to buy a CB, we have Pique for long term and Puyol & Abidal are perfect while we groom one of our youngsters to join Pique in a couple of years.

we dont need to buy Thiago Silva at the moment , we have a lot of players who plays CB (mascherano,fontas,puyol,mascherano or busk) , and silva is very expensive 25 M for a player who will stand on bench.
