Paulo Tonietto (agent Thiago Silva): "There has been no official contact with Barcelona. Thiago is happy in Paris and he will stay." [jdd]
Honestly, i don't see what he could have done better there. He was in lose - lose situation thanks to Marcelo. If he would have gone to pressure Giaccherini, the italian could have played a simple pass to the centre for the unrushing forward?(I don't remember who it was) so he could tap it in. IMO Thiago made the right choice seeing as 4 times out of 5, the keeper would have been able save that..

I don't agree, because the closer you are to the ball, the lower are your chances to block a pass because you have much less time to react. That's what Messi always uses as his advantage, he gets as close as possible to the defenders and then makes a pass. I could count plenty of assists he provided that way (mainly against RM) and all those defenders were not fools even though they let him pass the ball between their legs, they just didn't have time to react. He definitely could have done better, he made the right decision alright but he should have moved a few feet closer to the ball carrier which would have narrowed the angle he had on goal even more making it easier for the GK while also being in the position to block or make the pass into the middle difficult. He completely went with blocking the pass and made it too easy for Giaccherini IMO.
