Thiago Silva

Paulo Tonietto (agent Thiago Silva): "There has been no official contact with Barcelona. Thiago is happy in Paris and he will stay." [jdd]

Same shit different day. Obviously we've made contact. PSG probably told us to eff off so we're trying to get Silva to agree on personal terms and make him force a move.

Agents are the politicians of football. Part of their job is to do the political talking. And we all know what a political talking means.

He is TS's agent guys. This is obviously a plan to force Barca to improve their offer.

I just hope there is a plan b in case he doesn't come. And that the plan b isn't Adriano.

Honestly, i don't see what he could have done better there. He was in lose - lose situation thanks to Marcelo. If he would have gone to pressure Giaccherini, the italian could have played a simple pass to the centre for the unrushing forward?(I don't remember who it was) so he could tap it in. IMO Thiago made the right choice seeing as 4 times out of 5, the keeper would have been able save that..

Yes this is true, sure it ended up in a goal (superb finish) but he made the correct decision, one of few who would have covered the pass, instead of closing down for the simple pass/tap in.

He did the best thing in that situation, he was unlucky to need an extra inch or two to block the ball. But otherwise, correct decision and good positioning.

He definitely could have done better, he made the right decision alright but he should have moved a few feet closer to the ball carrier which would have narrowed the angle he had on goal even more making it easier for the GK while also being in the position to block or make the pass into the middle difficult. He completely went with blocking the pass and made it too easy for Giaccherini IMO.

I don't agree, because the closer you are to the ball, the lower are your chances to block a pass because you have much less time to react. That's what Messi always uses as his advantage, he gets as close as possible to the defenders and then makes a pass. I could count plenty of assists he provided that way (mainly against RM) and all those defenders were not fools even though they let him pass the ball between their legs, they just didn't have time to react.
That's why getting close to Giaccherini wouldn't make his job harder in any way imo.

Lolzzz no but Varane will be excellent.

Heed Maldini: "no one is close to him in the world in his position."

On his day Varane can put out nearly flawless performance, and T.S is most times flawless, so yes
And I've never said anyone was close to T.S, I called the best cb in the world in, like, October :)

Varane is the pretender to Silva's crown. They are both kind of similar, i look forward to Varane progressing.

Silva is as complete as it gets, after watching him for several seasons, he's one of the best defenders i've ever seen, not one flaw in his game.

Nesta-Silva, i'll remember it fondly. It was a joy to watch
