Thiago Translantara

Talk about false equivalancy. We didnt sign Pjanic for 60ME in a vacuum.

I am not sure about Pjanic, but I really dislike the idea of bringing Thiago back. He never clicked for me as a player (and looks injury prone). Am I the only one?

Seems you are not the only one, cauz Thiago is maybe the most underrated CM in Europe the last 5 years.
Underlying numbers say that, but if you don't care about the numbers, coaches say so as well:
Flick said the other day that without Thiago Bayern cannot exert the same control on matches, and if people cannot see that he is world-class that's their problem.
I guess same goes for all his coaches apart from Pep that trusted him.

Of course he is worlds apart from Pjanic. Pjanic is a clever player with exceptional right foot, but he does not have any fluidity and mobility. he cannot break lines with his passes. He is very limited compared to Thiago. Pjanic can only succeed at Barca as Busquets sub, given that the latter is getting old.

Frenkie and Thiago together will be an exceptional double pivot, and Sergio-Frenkie-Thiago would be an exceptional triplette.
But he is not coming.
a) Cauz we have the most undermining board in our history. They will do everything that runs to the contrary of the well-being of the club.
How can they even consider buying Thiago when they kicked him out in 2013 and missed out on a world class md the last 7 years?
b) He wants to play in the Premier League. That's the 'adventure' he is talking about. He wanted to go to United in 2013, but Moyes had a last-minute change of mind

Tancredi Palmeri says we've agreed terms with the player and that Bayern wants 35m but we're willing to offer 30m plus 5m in add ons.

I'm still sceptical about this because this isn't Klopp's or FSG's M.O. in spending a lot of dime on players over 28 and it's probably his agent name checking us for him to to get a better deal elsewhere.

He'd definitely for me would be a welcome addition however I don't see it happening.

30m for Thiago is great value even in this COVID wrecked transfer market.

We will probably spend 100m on some midfield misfit instead.

Thiago and David Alaba for 30-35m each is great, great value.

I would happily pay 35m each for Thiago and Alaba and ditch Lautaro completly.

Didn't Alaba reinvent himself as a ball-playing CB? I don't think Bayern are keen on selling him. Does he want to leave?

Messi wants Lautaro or Neymar. End of discussion. The club will sign one of them.

Even Lautaro would be an upgrade on current Suarez. Splashing 110m on him, though? A recipe for another Dembele-Coutinho-Griezmann...

Thiago, Pjanic, Busquets and Frenkie would be overkill. I would take that, but I dont see how we could make all of them happy.

Defence and attack should be sorted first as well.

True, which is why we have to make Busi a rotational player. The purpose of the team is not to make players happy. That's why transfers were invented.

Thiago, Frenkie, Pjanic, Puig, Roberto, Busi is great for a midfield 6. You have a bit of everything.

Honestly fuck Thiago if he joins liverpool. Left us to go join Bayern when they were the strongest team in the world and now joining liverpool who handed us a huge L last year. Couldn't wait a couple of years for his chances even though he had possibly the greatest midfield 3 combination of all time ahead of him not to mention Fabregas who although inevitably left us was also a world class player.

Not his fault the club didn't approach him. I think he'd come here if we wanted him.

No of course if he's not approached it's not his fault. Still salty about him leaving in the first place tbh lol. Especially considering our midfield for last few years.

I know that you think Busquets is one of the bad amigos, but hes still only 31. He wont accept a rotational role. And rightfully so. We need to be realistic. Not that Thiago would have anything to do with Busquets as well, it would be Pjanic vs Frenkie vs Thiago. Nonsensical. Thiago should be left alone after the signing of Pjanic. Was either/or for me.

I am probably in the minority that I think Busquets is fine for at least another season though. Our DM looked always decent enough, even when Rakitic played there. Our CM spots have been the bigger issue.

There's no such thing as a "don't accept a rotational role". If you don't accept competition, out. Have you looked at RM bench? Isco, James, Bale... Being a rotational player at Barca/Madrid ain't disrespectful. Especially at an advanced age.

Not the best example.

You simply dont sign Thiago and let him and Pjanic (+Frenkie) fight it out. Competition is good, but there should be a clear hierarchy and at best young players/talents fighting to take over. Or squad player seizing there chances. It would be like Madrid buying Thiago to compete with Kroos for one spot.
