Liverpool's search for a replacement for Steven Gerrard has led them to Inter midfielder Hernanes, according to reports in Italy. Brendan Rodgers has been scouring Europe for the player who could be the driving force for his team in central midfield but has largely been thwarted in his efforts. Another Inter player, Mateo Kovacic, was one of his top targets but Inter are demanding around £25million for the player and Liverpool are reluctant to pay that kind of sum. His contract still has three years to run so any move for Hernanes would not come cheap: Inter would want to see a profit on the £14million they spent on him, but he would represent a significant saving on the sums being quoted for Kovacic.
