He wasn't even the best defender in the EPL nevermind 'by a mile'.....

Apart from Vertonghen no one else comes close, the defending in the EPL last season was atrocious, Koscienly and Vertonghen were the only ones who looked in top form. Talking about defenders, someone needs too explain to me how Ferdinand got into the team of the year, I'm guessing that the voters all chose to forget United's major failing in defense over the duration of the season, Ferdinand being a major part of that failing. It's just as bad as Gary Neville putting Gerrard in his team of the year, but that's a discussion for another time.

Koscienly started 29 games in all comps(20 in the league) for Arsenal who conceded 35 goals in that period, he had poor defensive displays against the likes of Brighton, Bayern, Schalke, Reading, Fulham, Spurs, Chelsea etc...

I like Koscienly and think he has lots of ability, but he's very inconsistent and his season wasn't that impressive last year. Barcelona need a top class CB and this lad is not top class. You can't only start 20 league games and have poor performances in that period and be the best defender in the league and by a mile, it's just wrong. Vertonghen was far more impressive and even Williams of Swansea was better.

Your talking as if Kos was single handedly at fault for all those goals conceded when that's anything but the case, when every other defender around you is crap, of course your going to concede lots of goals . When his fellow teammates didn't do their jobs properly Kos was the one who always cleaned up their mess, but he's just one man, he can't do it by himself every single time. Vermalaen suddenly forgetting how to defend didn't do Kos any favours at all.

Whether you think highly of Kos or not I think we can all agree that he was better than fucking Rio Ferdinand.

Kompany was utter garbage last season, he was a major liability to Man City. Nastasic was much better than him.

He had many injuries last season with the result of having and inconsistent season, but that doesnt doubt that he is a world class CB.Still i admire very much his captain spirit and motivion of winning. He played 90 minutes with 3 serious injuries in hiss face and one of them being a broken nose..

If we do want Gundogan as xavis replacement then it'll be an all out bidding war between ourselves and real madrid who have first option on him.

I never said so, but anyway do you think he's going to get more protection at Barcelona with the likes of Alves, Alba constantly bombing forward?

Pique gets slated for his defending when he has had a lack of defensive unit next to him, but Koscienly gets let off the hook for bad displays due to poor defensive displays beside him?
