Arsenal... I like it. Not because it will be easy, because it won't. But the matches against them are usually great. A side that tries to play, not hit our players or play a bus.
Gent vs Wolfsburg - Wolfsburg making it to last 8,one of the teams that anybody would love to draw then.
AS Roma vs Real Madrid - A struggling Roma vs a struggling RM. Not an easy draw but If we can't make past Roma then we have nothing to look for in the UCL. Expecting RM to go through this and Ronaldo to finally score vs a decent side.
PSG vs Chelsea - This matchup yet again. Chelsea is really struggling and PSG are on-form and I believe PSG will go through without too much trouble.
Arsenal vs Barcelona - This one will be really interesting. I'm predicting plenty of goals and excitement. Barca will probably go through ,I'd give Arsenal 25-30 % chance to go through.
Juventus vs Bayern - This is really great because 2 of the top teams are going to duke it out and one will be saying Hasta la Vista.
PSV - Atl. Madrid - Relatively easy for ATM who could do big things in the UCL this year.
Benfica - Zenit Petersburg - Bah.
Dyn. Kiev - Manchester City - Samee.
So last 8 could look something like this:
Wolfsburg,Real Madrid,PSG,Barcelona,Bayern,Atletico Madrid,Zenit,Manchester City. We could see all 5 of the strongest teams in the world (RM,PSG,Barca,Bayern/Juve,ATM) in the last 8 which would be really exciting. Everybody would hope for Wolfsburg/Zenit which would provide the easiest road to the semi-final.
Arsenal not an easy draw at all. Maybe even tougher match up
than PSG.
They are far stronger than a few years ago and if all fit it will be tough against pace of Walcott/Sanchez being fed by Ozil, Ramsey Cazorla.
Hopefully Cazorla still out by then.
Would imagine Lucho will play on break and look to expose Bellerin with Neymar and Merts lack of pace with Suarez.
I would have liked to play someone different, but things could have definitely turned out worse. Granted, Football is football and anyone can lose on their day, but this is one of the better match ups we could have drawn.
Arsenal vs. Barcelona will be fun. You may concede a few goals but there's no reason you shouldn't consider yourselves heavy favorites. Neymar should have returned by then while you'll also be getting Arda and Vidal(?) in January. On the other hand, Arsenal is annually injury riddled around that time of year and haven't made it out of the round of 16 in a while. They won't roll over, but Its not a bad draw all things considered.
I have a feeling Juventus may upset Bayern. One seems to be coming around at the right time whereas the other seems to be tapering off. Plus, the Italian just seem to always no the unexpected, so I'm not counting them out.
I think the above also applies to Roma vs. Madrid. Somehow, I could see Benitez fuck that up.
Wolfsburg and City are going through. PSV will give a solid showing but will fall in the end, same for Benfica in their matchup with Zenit.
All in all, should be a fun round of 16.
Arsenal are going to park the bus, though. Not in the way Chelsea or Atletico does, but still with 10 men behind the ball in a 4-1-4-1 block. They've already done that in 2011 and had some decent performances (most notably the 2-0 at the Etihad or the 2-0 against Bayern) playing exactly like that. Also, Cech to save a Messi penalty and deny countless clear cut chances.
Arsenal are extremely dangerous. I can't fathom how anyone can deny that.
We need to neutralize Oezil, that man is on a hot streak lately, not only can he provide and assist, he has scored some nice goals too. And of course Sanchez and Carzola.
