I never thought he'd be such a good DM for us after Van Gaal converted him to play there. Glad both him and Frank de Boer turned managers and good ones if I may add.
I do believe Van Gaal was a huge influence on both of them as he was on Lucho, Mourinho, Pep and many more. He wasn't very likable but he was ahead of his time in terms of training, preparation, etc. and I remember some of his former players commenting on it too.

That is very true ,one of the reasons I am huge LVG fan.
