Anyone watch a lot of Sporting? Lots of fellas at the Portuguese clubs here singing him praise. His stats this season were exceptional and it looks like was also good for Coventry as well. Interesting profile, modern forward that can dribble. Looks like Sporting broke their transfer fee record of 20mil to get him. Resale of 100mil incoming.

It does seem that he had to get left knee surgery immediately following the end of the season, any news on the severity? Just turned 26, would be a shame if it impacts his future.

I've watched Sporting a lot this season, incredible player who can do everything.

Had reportedly played through knee injury in second half of the season but didn't see this impact his performances. Now has undergone surgery but should be back in time for preseason.

Hope he won't go to Chelsea, they are just destroying strikers and he also deserves to play in CL. As much as I dislike Arsenal I think he would be a great fit for them but latest reports say they're closing in on Šeško who is younger and cheaper.

Don't know their finances well but Sporting sold players like Ugarte, Pedro Porro, Nuno Mendes, Palhinha and Matheus Nunes for over 200m combined in last two years so I'd assume they are not desperate to sell again.

I've seen reports they want to keep Gyokeres to be competitive in CL and will demand his clause (100m) from any interested team. They will probably sell Goncalo Inacio for 40-50m and maybe one of Hjulmand or Goncalves. Ousmane Diomande is apparently another player they want to keep.

Ideally Gyokeres will stay in Portugal and then we can ship Lewy to SA next year and somehow find the money to sign him.

He seems a fine player but there's always reason for caution in the Portuguese league.

26 already? half of his career already over and barely peaked in Portugal? I wouldn't even pay 40M.

Portuguese clubs don't sell cheap. But if they put him on the market, there will be a dozen suitors willing to pay 40-50mil. Not Barca, but half the EPL will be trying. Some strikers don't peak until their prime, some burn out by 23. I'd be wary of us signing someone only after 1 excellent season, but that won't stop other rich clubs from taking a punt.

It's kind of a hit or miss with transfers from Primeira Liga. I remember Bas Dost used to have crazy stats like 1 goal a game in Portugal but wasn't so good everywhere else. Slimani also used to be a world beater at Sporting but flopped at other clubs.

Pass 100m for a 26 year old in Portugal?

Maybe 60-70.

100m is his clause, just telling other teams they don't want to sell now unless someone comes close to that number.

I think they should easily get 60m+ now but if they keep him and has another strong season alongside banging few goals in CL then he can be a 80-90m player next year.

Amorim already had to rebuild after winning 2020/21 season when he lost most key players so I believe the club has promised him to not do that again and they'll try to hold onto their best players and defend their title while making a step forward in CL.

also lol at people saying 60m is too much for a striker entering his prime years. We paid close to that for a semi-retired player.

Ffs, he's not even worth 30m - he will fail in PL... and only some club in PL would be stupid enough to cough up more than 50M.
