I don't normally care as much as some others about stats and haven't seen much of this guy, but 43 goals in 50 games last season (according to the dubious source that is wikipedia) is pretty impressive.

Scored again tonight, too. If he has another great season he will likely move around the age of 27 ie approaching his prime years (he's 26 now).

There's buzz around him so I am gonna take more interest.

Looking forward to see how he (and the whole Sporting team) will do vs City and Arsenal in their next two games. Started with 7 points from 3 games so even if they lose both should still be in a good positon to advance. But would like to think they can get at least a point considering they play both games at home. And hopefully Gyo will score a goal or two.

So much to like about that goal. First the turn on the touchline, the strength to hold the defender off. Then as he uses his pace to get away he cleverly cuts across the defender to take him out of the game and prevent him getting a challenge in. Then he doesn't panic when in front of goal and evades the goalkeeper and another defender before slotting it home in a cool fashion. One thing I love about finishing is when a player doesn't just blast it first time but either goes round a goalkeeper or sells a dummy to a defender to create space.

It's not the same situation there but it always pisses me off when a defender closes down a forward for a lunging slide tackle and the latter shoots and has it blocked, when he could sell a dummy, cut inside, and have a free shot on goal (assuming the space is there and he's not being closed down by a second defender).

My guy had a similar run on the Right side, in the first half, passed it to his teammate when close to the box and that guy squandered it.

Had a pretty good first half, a couple of chances, and one sitter that he missed, but the guy behind was able to score. He was marked with at least 2 players when in the box and was still able to handle them well.

With the manager leaving, I think he leaves Sporting next summer, if not this winter. Maybe ManUnited

I really don't want to miss out on this guy.

What are his best qualities? Which player does he resemble the most?
Cant really say who he resembles. But for me he seems to be the most complete striker at this moment.

Has the strength to overpower defenders. In the Lille game, he was constantly around 2 even 3 defenders, and was able to bully them for chances.
Has a good enough first touch to play the CF role, do combinations, and progress the ball further.
Has speed and burst too. Seen him outrun the defender for half the pitch and then score a goal, or cross it.
Isn't a player who shoots and then prays it goes in. Composed enough in front of the goal to position the shot well.
It is often on pockets of spaces in the box without a defender marking. Shows he has that no.9 instinct. Losing a marker seems to be easy for him

To me he's a bit like Haaland. Physical no-nonsense CF. More of a bum on the ball than Haaland though.

You really think he's worse than Haaland on the ball?

I think he is much better on the ball. But I agree he is a very Haaland-type physical player.
To me, he is better with the ball.
