Seriously though, he's a great great player and would be a deserving winner.

BUT so would Rodri, and even more so in my opinion. I feel it's very entitled and disrespectful of the Real Madrid contingent to not attend. It demeans all the players from other clubs who work hard and perform well - they deserve credit too. The world does not revolve around Real Madrid.

Also, they build this award up to be something it's not - Messi has won it 8 times, but even if he had never been given a single vote it wouldn't affect one bit how I see him. We should rate players by their performances and what we see with our own eyes, not by a very politically and agenda driven award like the Ballon d'Or.

Why the fuck would it come out before the ceremony who won? Would be so much more fun if Vini aka "everybody is racist" sat there smiling thinking he's the winner
It's always been communicated to winner contenders to get ads from sponsors, presenters etc in place
Had to book Zidane to give to Benzema in Paris before
Allegedly this time they are/were having R9 hand it over

Whether or not it's changing is yet to be seen

Yeah, Madrid's reaction is off place. Everybody knows that the award is as much about politicking and lobbying as it is about actual football. Don't throw a tantrum just because you lost at the backstage game.

Idiots. But I bet Barca would do the same. Still mock worthy .

Modric didn't deserve it, and he got it. Can't act like that only when you don't get the toy.

Imagine he still wins it and the club delegation is not there
lol

Not sure if true but apparently RM only found this whole thing out from Man City
The news from BDO camp is coming out that still only 2 people know who is actually going to get it
Why did City contact RM and inform that? Like hey, Rodri wins so you guys better stay at home??

Who knows
Could be that they lied/just to mess with them
Could be that it's all fake and been told by UEFA themselves

All in all this is all good buzz and nobody but Madrid stands to lose from it so probably been orchestrated in such way deliberately
Not that it should affect decision to attend or not at all lol

Are you so gullible to think that the whole Madrid organization decided to cancel their trip with sponsors and everything, because City told them? Without checking themselves?

Or you trying so hard to COPE again?

Calm down Lirdy mate
Folk are even tracking a flight from Madrid so who knows, they may have even backpedalled on the initial announcement and sent some figureheads after all

WELL....

If that's the criteria, he doesn't even make the top50 shortlist, given how he fares in number 3
