Vitor Roque (loaned to Real Betis)

So if there’s market for him, they’re gonna buy and resell. In that case we get 27.5m at best plus 20%. They’d have to resell for 40ish m for us to get back what we paid.

If this is true, of course.

Clubs don't want to develop players for you on free.
This is a common practice in Spain, and it incentives clubs to develop players as they get rewarded for it.

Disagree, there are lot of "free" loans with no buy options. Clubs will play loanees if they are added value to their team. And Vitor is clearly better than Chimy Avila or Bakambu at this stage of his career. There are also other incentives we can use to guarantee our loanees will get enough minutes. For example % of wages we cover, lower/higher loan fee depending on how much he plays etc.

Including buy options is mostly a lose-lose scenario when you are the one who are loaning out the player. Either he plays good enough and you risk to lose him or he's not good enough and you get him back. Use a normal loan if you still believe in player long term or obligation to buy if you gave up on the player.

It takes 3 parties to complete a deal.

Betis don't do loans unless it is an absolute steal. They are paying Roque wage AFAIK, they need a win in the deal as an incentive to use him.

Free loans exist with bottom clubs (Las Palmas) whom you lian academy players to, or when you cover wages like Lenglet.

Roque didn't want to stay, we didn't want him to stay. No one wanted to pay his sum and buy him.

Current deal is good for us atm, and great for Roque.

Again, assuming it is true. I highly doubt we don't have buyback

Let's say they Betis buy him to sell on. They pay 25m this summer. Another club wants to buy him for 40m, 20% goes to us which is 8m. What's left for Betis is 32m, and they signed him for 25m, so a 7m profit.

I doubt any club would pay 40m at this point. So if Betis buy him it's because they believe his value will keep increasing or that he could be a 25m worth player for them, not to make a quick flip.

Well we screwed this up is because we lost our leverage with the fight to get under salary cap.

Shouldn't have given all the incentives to Betis though. As said before, Spuds loaned them Lo Celso AND secured a buy option on who they deemed their best player.

We on the other hand loaned Roque and secured a buy option for Betis less than what we paid, with no veto option. Amazing.

Modern Pele is back!

Overall a good match, looks way better than at the beginning of the season. Maybe not enough playing time was his issue.

Dang this is actually really good. I think people often forget he's just 18. Strikers at 18 mostly play garbage minutes in some shit ass league, they don't start most games in a La Liga club and put up overall solid performances week in week out.

I don't know if he lives up to potential and all that, but he'll be a solid striker one day for sure on a much bigger stage than Betis in my opinion.

He could play like Romario and there is not a cat in hell's chance that Betis buy him outright because they simply don't have 27m to spend. And there is no chance that Vitor performs well enough for other clubs to match his 40m valuation.

It's best to get used to it now. This man will be coming back in July and we will be in the same position as we were a few months ago, desperate to get rid of a player that nobody wants to pay us for.

Betis has an option to extend loan.

So far, he is showing enough for them to want him back. He is on the way of a 15+ goals in the season.

If he can get 20 goals next year, which isn't far fetched with full preseason with Betis, plenty of clubs would pay 40M for 21 years old striker.

He's nearly 20 in fact but generally I think it's really dumb to sign young strikers. Going off the brazilian league is even worse, we're not playing that kind of football.

But we know it was a panic signing, statement, or just dumb, what you wanna call it, "look madrid got a new brazilian, need one too, quick!".
I'm not opposed to any signings, but just splurging so much money because of some brazilian league, madrid and that shady agent again....

You can look at what Manure did, and it shows you need a mature striker, not some that MIGHT do something in MAYBE 5 years. Most aren't Haaland.

So how much did we even pay for him? I read 30 million plus 30 million bonus(?)
