Kovacic has a decent burst of pace to drive at teams and dribble a bit in middle of park but he lacks much else to be anywhere near compared to Modric who is still up there as best midfielder in the world.

No one compares him to Messi/Ronaldo other than saying the ultimate for any goalscorer is to match them for goals and he is making good effort at it over a short space of time.

He was poor tonight and England barely even put in effort but seen plenty games Ronaldo or Messi were poor and scored a goal.
