Why da fuck does Masche think he's a playmaker?

Didn't watch more than 10 minutes in the game today, but Sampaoli in last game put him as a CB when they lose the ball, and deep lying playmaker when they have it

call me crazy but does the ball behave differently at high altitude? whenever there's a kickoff from the goalkeeper, the ball easily lands in the opposing penalty area.
