He was just in line. Comfortable win. Barely needed to get out of second gear. A bit too relaxed in the second half presenting Venezuela with a couple of opportunities. Gago was impressive again.

Have to say Venezuela were playing dirty. That challenge from behind on Montillo in the first half should have been a red card.

Stop talking tripe. Higuain does plenty of work and has set up Messi several times as well. Living off his magic ? Are you actually an Argentina fan or a Messi fan ? He's now clean for the Colombia game.

Argentina has more than enough to dispose of Bolivia. I expect Sabella to bring in a couple of players at least including di Maria and play without a recognized nine.

Unfair ? The defender made a deliberate motion to divert the ball away from Messi. And replays show Higuain just in line with the last defender for the third. And they were lucky to escape a red card early on when Montillo was run through from behind. They are a limited side and they'll have to scrap for a playoff spot. Argentina were nowhere near their best last night. Plenty of sloppy passing early on and plenty of comfortable keepball in the second half.

Gago also deserves to be nominated MOTM. Excellent coverage and distribution. He really has stepped up in recent games for the seleccion.

Hope to see Lamela and Pastore in at some point along with Peruzzi or indeed Mino. Scocco too.
