Xavi with Puyol as assistant in the bad cop role.

That's just what I was about to add.

Xavi's biggest problem could be being too soft, too sweet. Pep also looks gentle and calm, but he's loud when he has to be. I remember Abidal explaining how Pep was yelling so much in his first weeks, when he was forcing the discipline on his players. I'm not sure Xavi is capable of this, he still looks like a kid to me. So, yeah - Puyol will be needed as an assistant.

Xavi still has time to become a vocal leader. As Puyol loses more and more playing time and eventually retires, Xavi will take over and learn the captain's duties. He's got the tactics and knowledge down because he's a pure genius on and off the pitch.

I voted Puyi.

I can just imagine him as a coach: Standing in the box, all suited up and with his trademark hair.

Boss.

I thought Xavi said he wouldn't take up coaching once his playing career was over.
Others I just don't see as prospect managers.

No i think he said that right when Pep was rumored to be resigning at barcelona. Xavi said that he was still focusing on his career as a player and wasn't thinking about coaching yet and that he didn't even have a coaching diploma. He didn't dismiss it entirely for the future but as of now, he still wants to play for maybe 5-6 years. And considering that a lot of center midfielders (including him) are getting better with age, i doubt he will even think about retirement for a while.

Xavi is the obvious candidate and Mascherano who really should be listed there. Apparently the thing that has impressed the Barca squad and coaching staff the most about Mascherano is his football intelligence. He wouldn't take shit from anyone as well.

I think Puyol is more of a warrior than he is a tactical genius. Sort of a hitman in football- give him the task, he does it...goes home. His moral impact on team is huge, but would he really make a great allround coach? :pep:

I don't see anyone in that role, but there's a small chance Xavi, Busquets or Andres would make it.

I think it was Puyol who said that as I remember reading an interview of his on the official Barca website. :)

Agree about Mascherano. He should definitely be on that list. Also, why is Thiago included? He's not even a first team regular yet.
