Who should we get if Toure leaves?

Martinez is Keitalike imo and Toure should stay. Our DM position is probably the most precarious one. With Toure in Pep has different options as Yaya is a different kind of DM than Sergi.
Should Yaya leave, Barca should get Vukojevic from Dinamo Kiev. Probably the best DM in Eastern Europe, he was also MoM for Kiev at Camp Nou. But that's me thinking and not likely to happen.

Cesc and Busquets should be able to handle the job. Still if we really wanna get somebody as a DM (considering Iniesta moves to left flank, Villa becomes central forward and Xavi and Cesc need a DM in the middle of the park), my first choice would be Essien. Second would be Cambiasso and Masherano would be third.

Given Busi will be a starter whoever comes in would need to accept being on the bench a fair amount. The likes of Mascherano and Cambiasso would not be willing to do that. Zapater as Estel mentioned would be a good choice, he could certainly do a job. J martinez would be an awesome signing too as he's a brilliant talent, although given he's a box to box player he'd really be an upgrade on Keita. Yaya is too good to be 2nd choice with limited playing time, his replacement is unlikely to be of the same quality unless they're guaranteed games.

Javi Martinez is the rich man's Keita but he is much, much better on the ball and so he could work as our deepest midfielder more so than Keita can. Gascherano is overpriced, underskilled and wouldn't accept a bench role. Zapater is a good call because he wouldn't demand to play every day.

Good thing I'm not the only one saying this... He was AM while Iniesta was CM last friendly, which hints to me that Del Bosque believes Cesc is an offensive-oriented midfielder. We know Xavi and Iniesta cannot do the defensive duties if all three are played in the midfield at the same time.

It's interesting...Cesc has shown a physical side before, but I've never once seen him in a role where his defense was a factor. Under Aragones he played more forward than any other midfielder, Iniesta and Silva played wide and play up front for their respective teams before but they would press much more than Cesc would, who served as an attacking midfielder super sub and even as a virtual second striker when Villa got injured. Del Bosque seems to be playing him in a similar role. If anything Xavi and Iniesta defend more for Spain than Cesc does.

In Arsenal he always plays with at least one defensive minded midfielder. He might have superior strength to our midgets, but if anything his work rate and game reading ability is inferior to Iniesta's in such a role.
