Mahrez, a better, younger player with EU passport will cost about the same as this guy. But he's not Brazilian, he's not 30 years old so it makes sense that the board will pursue the older, worse player. Ah the guy would come crawling to Barcelona since he is a fan.

Mind you I would not even buy Mahrez, but if we want a RW for squad depth purposes, he is as hell makes a lot more sense than fecking Wilian.

Either the club is confident that Coutinho is getting his passport here really soon or we are going to sell Paulinho cause right now with Arthur coming it makes no sense for us to go for Willian right now in that aspect since he doesn't have a passport either even if we got rid of Yerry.

Or the press is full of shit. I think that's the most likely option.

Nonsense. We've already signed him for 100m+ and now we'll move on to sign a handful of other old Brazilians. Because the transfer of Paulinho proves that's now a rule.

You probably said the same thing last year when we were linked Di Maria. Lo and behold

In all seriousness the news about us inquiring about Willian come from different sources as far as I know. It's not one bullshiter journo or DonBalol site reporting this. There are several sources such as SkyUK, Cope, Romero, Daily mail...

I guess what I;m trying to say is that it may be bullshit, but so far this seems right off our alley that I wouldn't outright dismiss it.

If it was less than half of the 50 mill being reported I'd be all for it, good quality squad player. But spending 50 million on someone who is almost 30 is beyond stupid.

We are quick to rule out spending over the odds on players when it's for positions we actually need, e.g. centre midfield but we dont mind spending way over the odds for Brazillians. Willian + Paulinho for a combined 90 million.

I hope this is just a rumour, but seeing as the transfer would be a massive waste of money, it's bound to be true.

We have wasted a lot of money on transfers in the last few seasons and Bartomeu definitely has Rosell's Brazilian obsession.

So after skimming the internet real quick as I don't care nearly enough to check word for word, I found the following links in order of appearance:

1. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...on-offer-Barcelona-Brazil-winger-Willian.html

2. https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futb...2/45551873695/willian-entregado-al-barca.html

3. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...arcelona-offers-willian-fund-summer-spending/

4. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ct-barcelona-bid-for-willian-in-excess-of-50m

These are the reports that don't mention any other known original sources.

1. We have an 4 days old article from DailyMail, which post just as much bullshit as anyone else but from what I know, they do have 1 or 2 guys that will report legit info. Don't know if the author of the article is one of the good ones.

2. There's MD yesterday with an article from Roger Torello. It's mostly his opinion from what I gather and no definite statement that a bid has been sent Chelsea's way. Just the usual MD ass kissing of FCB.

3. This is the most interesting article because it comes from Matt Law who is Chelsea's mouthpiece journo and the most reliable for them. Among other Chelsea targets and whatever else, he says this:

Chelsea want to sell Danny Drinkwater for over £30m, but they would also be prepared to cash in on Willian if Barca can get near to their £60m valuation.

Overall, in large part, the article is just this guy's opinion. So nothing conclusive yet. The above quote still kinda looks like we've made a bid just not as much as they want.

4. Sky sources. They are the same as other massive bullshitters. Could be true, could be utter drivel.

Any other news outlet mentions either MD, Sky or Daily Mail.

In my opinion there's too much smoke to not be a fire. Even if it's a lighter fire, I'm sure there are contacts between us and Chelsea for him. If we'll buy him or not, remains to be seen.

Willian would be a decent signing but 50/60m is a bit much although not as crazy as is being made out.

He can be unstoppable on his day but can be quiet at times as well.

Barca couldnt get near him in that Chelsea tie.
