How does this guy not have a thread to his name yet?


A definition of a pivot playmaker, the best player of this characteristic in the last decade. Teams have been and still are being built around him. And just like Xavi, he probably will never get the awards due for his performances and talent.

Xavi and Iniesta are running rings around him in midfield. Every. Single. Time. He's slow, static, a bad tackler and needs a defensively more adept partner to cover his ass (Mascherano, Khedira, Busquets ...). He knows how to ping 40 yard long balls and ... that's it. :D

Like him as a person. Intelligent guy. You can always see it in his face that he follows Jose's thug tactics only with disgust.

Hope he retires soon so the national team can play beautiful football again.

Alonso is a great player though everything he does is so calm and seems effortless

He's good in the EPL. .............. dunno what else to say other than he's apparently your best midfielder (although I think Granero is better in every aspect of the game besides tackling)
