He needed a CDM midfielder, he was 100% right, not giving Casado a chance ahead of Romeu was dumb.

In Xavi defense, Casado developed a lot in the last season, and he plays far better in CDM.
Casado actually can't bring the ball from the back and we rely a lot on Pedri in that regard. Xavi system didn't have double pivot and Casado would have looked terrible in it.

Could argue that Xavi should have changed his system, but tbh that is a criticism for most coaches
