Even if you sell Dembele, De Jong, and a few others, what is the cost? I don't see any player except De Jong going for 60-80M and I don't have confidence in Barca's board because we are the club that does cheap transfers (unless you're a catalan golden boy excluding Pique)

60m for Lewandowski? So you think we will pay Bayern 10m more than what they're asking for? Also, where did this idea of ?100m for Bernardo come from? City were willing to let him go last year for 50m. A 50m increase in valuation of a player in a span of a year is crazy

Alonso played his best in a 3atb system as an LWB under the likes of Conte and Tuchel.

As an LB either in a 4-3-3 he's subpar. The dude is slow and can't defend for shit and he's not all that special with the ball either. Yeah scoring goals here and there is great but he's going to need a lot more than that to be good here and he just doesn't have it. Dude makes Jordi Alba look a tier above.

Last season Alonso 5G 6A, in 20/21 2G 0A because he barely played, 19/20 4G 2A. Alba last season 3G 12A, 20/21 3G 14A, 19/20 2G 9A. We already have a 31+ year old LB who's only real strength nowadays is providing some good numbers in attack.

True, but why does it have to be another old slow player who's ideal position doesn't exist in our team?


I mean not like it's the most important thing because Alba will most likely start most games anyway but at least let's not talk up another average player just to make it seem like a good solution.

We'll get him so he can ride the bench, that's it. Probably not even that cheap as well. I hope it will at least be a short contract, i can't take these "Barca wants to get rid of [insert old bum] but the player doesn't want to leave" headlines anymore.

I doubt Alonso would have more assists than Alba. He'd score more goals though. Alba ends up in finishing positions quite often surprisingly, but bar some fluke wondergoal he misses most of them.

Alonso will look rigid in comparison to Alba in overall play though. But I'll take him if he costs below 5m. Better than nothing I guess. Then can get someone for cheap in 2023, or maybe even Gaya for free even though Valencia said they'll want a fee for him.
