You make a good point. We dont have the materials to be the best team in the world anymore. Part of that, however, is caused by bad transfer decisions, and we have lost a lot of money due to so many early knockouts under Xavi.

Don't forget that a major part of those bad transfer decisions have been because of Xavi.
Most of the signings apart from a few have been Xavi's. Guys he has personally requested us to sign.

Well competing for the Europe's top titles has always been the main driver.

We can write off a bad season but Barca have had far too many bad seasons in recent years.

Safely assuming that the club wont win the CL this season, then by next season it will be at 10 years since Barca last won the CL. In this time Liverpool and Bayern have surpassed Barca in CL titles. And how much longer can Barca afford to not compete for the CL? Who's to say that a juggernaut club like City can't win another 4-5 CL in the next decade and surpass Barca too.

But regardless of CL eliminations, Barca was able to mask this over recent decades because they have domestically dominated La Liga.

Now that is is clearly slipping out of reach too.

Barca can't relax mate. The club actually can't afford (figuratively and literally) to fall anymore behind.

True. He is not without fault. We have failed this season, everyone involved, Laporta, Xavi, players.

You can jump on me, as well, for forum Ws. Take them. I'm not ashamed of supporting Xavi till the end. As I did believe in Koeman previously. Both did some good for Barca in the long run, I believe and truly hope. What I'm worried is the precedent of immediate expectations Barca to dominate all of a sudden with a managerial change.

It took Klopp 3 years to build his team and it happened with major boost from Barca buying Coutinho for 140m that made Van Dijk transfer possible back in the day.

Anyway, as bad as Xavi has been, Laporta himself has been the biggest fraud at the club.
Have zero faith he will make the right decisions. Probably not hit rock bottom yet.

Nobody is a fraud. The team has done very well last season, bad this season.

We can turn it around and get better next season. We need to sign a top DM though. And a good back-up keeper.
