Xavi does this so often but every single time he does it I'm in awe, I think it was a move about min 42 that ended in Messi's 2nd goal. a pure piece of art. he was looking for options, seeing Cesc in like a fraction of a second and at the same time turning his head and upper body away from Cesc's direction and the defender he's facing (as if he sees that way blocked and has decided to pass sideways) and laying an all round perfect pass towards Cesc who then did a nice turn and assisted Messi's fine finish.
I was watching the slow motion replay and was in awe of how fast all these are done for Xavi. sometimes he really makes it look like fantasy.

And Xavi also has a quality that often gets overlooked, he not only knows how to make a pass, he also knows how to receive a pass... Almost all the times a team mate passes to him, his position is flawless and he always receives the ball facing towards the opposition's goal, it is just fantastic...

Exactly. What makes him the running engine of the team is exactly that he's the distributor but he's also so very often on the receiving end of a pass as well. It's a very important aspect of his play for the players around him.

Anyone else notice sometimes Xavi has a great option to make a throughball but he doesn't? It's like he doesn't want to take even a little bit of risk.
Last game I noticed it 3 times. One was a Fabregas run, another Villa run and an Adriano run - he saw them and could've picked a pass but he didn't. When in desperate need of a goal, risks should be taken even if it means loss of possession.
