Considering we overplayed him at times last season and hes now playing 2/3 games a week, its to be expected.

I don't know why people keep talking about formations of Del Bosque when Xavi was below par for Barcelona as well.

Xabi alonso has played for Spain before and even then Xavi was dominating, the guy was absolutely non-existent in the semifinals and everybody (outside of a few blind fans) can see clearly that Xavi is not what he used to be. He's a shadow of his former self.

What is evident to anyone who follows Xavi is that his "highlight reel" moments as orchestrator supreme are directly related to his circumstances- how the rest of his team is organized and plays, and how opponents set up against them. Changes in Barça and Spanish NT, and the now nearly universal tendency of opponents to defend deep are the primary reasons for the appearance that he is less dominating than previously. To the casual observer, Xavi/Barça/Spain only shine when a goal is scored by a clever pass; the casual observer doesn't give any credit to all the (dominant) skill that goes into building up to those moments. Xavi is an orchestrator of space. When his own team is clogged or the opponent parks a bus, he can't really be blamed for not seeing space that doesn't exist.

I expect another brilliant dominant season from Barça and Xavi this coming year. It will be interesting to see how Tito tweaks the tactics and personnel.

Tbh, Xavi has not been playing good in the Euros. Don't know if he has a down period or that the whole team has a down period or the formation (2 DM's and no forwards make the midfield crowded). But Xavi will come good - gloryhunters gona hate, but Xavi has been one of the best midfielders/players for the past 10 years and still has a couple of seasons of top class football in him.

Life is faster today than it was yesterday. The lifecycle of one satisfaction is shorter than it used to be. While you were happy with a gadget for years (before), you seem to buy these things every year now. A status on facebook has to be updated every hour, otherwise, what's the use of it, right? So in a fast changing new world order and a generation that really doesn't appreciate "boredom", it is clear that Xavi is "only a shadow of his former self".

Can't imagine the general atmosphere among some fans when Barca doesn't win La Liga nor the CL next year. Let's see Xavi again when the classic Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets midfield lines up
