Xavi won't lose his ability, but he needs rest to perform at that high level we were used to see. He's still one of the best cms out there. But he needs rest. Rest he's not getting, and probably is too stubborn to admit he does need it.

Its up to Tata to man up and play Sergi/Song/Cesc more. Xavi is not the coach he should have no say in whether he plays or not (Unless its something like emotional stress or something like that).

Xavi trained apart today, with pain in his right calf, his chronic injury :shakeshead:

Yeah, even if Xavi wants to play every game, Tata needs to put his foot down and rest him.

Considering that Xavi has only played 150 minutes in the past 4 weeks, that's not the worst idea actually. He needs some rythm.

Xavi: "Tello says he could consider leaving if he doesn't play? He explained his situation and he is entitled to do that." [catradio]

First time I see Xavi speak like this. Normally he's all like "stay patient", "time will come" and that kind of standard stuff when talking about youngstars. Looks like the squad is really pissed about Tello's and Montoya's behaviour in the dressing room.

Well for some reason a lot of the talented players La Masia is growing are leaving all of a sudden or atleast threatening to leave (Sanabria,Thiago,Sergi Canos now Montoya and Tello) I suppose its reached the point where the senior members don't care for them if they perpetuate this sort of attitude.

It has always been like this, even before players like Fàbregas, Piqué etc. left at a young age. Thiago is the first great player to leave after having established himself in the first team and that was probably due to the coach as his father (I think) indicated after Tito stepped down. Tello and Montoya - well, I like both of them, especially Montoya, but you have to admit that due to whatever reason they have somewhat stagnated in the last 1.5 years which is terrible for such young players. Although I hate to admit it, I think it's best for their development if they left right now.

Xavi: “We believe in what we are doing, but there is a negative element surrounding the club that doesn’t help. I hear things, and what I don’t hear people tell me about, and it seems there are more negative comments than even we are used to.

"But, to be honest, the only time the team has given the impression of not being in control was in the first half against Ajax, and perhaps at times in Bilbao.

"We thought we’d changed the Barca dynamics, but it still appears that the glass is half empty."

“What has changed is that now everybody wants to play like Barca. "Rayo, Betis, Osasuna, Celta ...

“Yes, we are losing more possession than normal, and it’s something we have to correct. But Martino is a leader who is really fair, knows loads about football and has very clear ideas.

"He hasn’t come to change anything, but rather get back to where we were before. Whether Cesc or Sergi Roberto plays, we still play the same way. Nobody in the squad would benefit from a change in our style of play.

"We’re not made to run 30 or 40 sprints per match; what we want to do is control the game."

"I'm in good shape - even better than the previous two seasons,"

"I’m 33, I’ll be 34 in January and I'm excited about the challenges ahead, challenges that I wouldn’t have with any other team."

To Tello's defense I would say that ever since Pedro our home grown fowards have all seemed to suffer from a curse, they start off wonderfully and then something bad happens (Bojan,Cuenca and now Tello). And montoya just doesn't have the attacking quality to replace Alves.

I agree with xavi, we shouldn't try to change the way we play just bring it back to 2010/2011 (Saw a glimpse of the same quality midfield against granada/madrid).

What is going on??? It appears that our club is in a disarray, after the two losses. We need Tata and the captains to rein in things. Puyol and Xavi, it is time for you to step up!!
