Pique I think will leave after this season even though I feel like I have been saying that for two years now. Been some rumors lately about it. We need to sign a CB to replace him, and someone that would come in as the best CB in the team. Not a free signing that's at the level of Garcia, Araujo, but someone that's better than them.

We also need to look at our forwards because there's very little to like there apart from Ansu and Memphis, although rarely in his case of late. We definitely need a striker and a RW. Ideally players who are quick. If Ansu is to be our striker we need a RW and a LW, but we definitely need to upgrade the talent in those positions significantly. Severely lacking there.

Even if we manage to sort out our defense we simply need more goalscorers and attacking threats if we want to compete for major trophies again. Ansu alone is not cutting it.

In the past, you were able to buy players like peak Dani Alves for some 30m. A player like that right now is 100m.

30m back then was like 70-80 today.

The prices went up but we were filthy rich.
Again, it is not as if we have built the team from 2005 onwards on La Masia as propaganda claim.

The revival started with Ronnie and Etoo who were 100m transfers in the current terms.
Plus Deco who just won a CL with Porto, so something like 80m today.
Actually, we signed the best players from both CL finalists in 2004: Porto vs Monaco: Deco and Guily.

Imagine how much we were spending when we were able to do that.

My point: yes, you need coaches and youth academy. But in general, money is what's winning titles.
Barca, Real or any top EPL team.
Someone like Leicester happens once in 30 years.

Filthy rich clubs rule the world.

If it's all about money we will end up like Ajax if we are lucky. Imo it's deeper than just money. It's the insistence on adhering to Cruyffs philosophy at any cost and not moving with the times. This whole midget tiki taka is annoying and has been exposed even in better times. Bayern blew us away in 2012 with speed, physicality and intensity.
Time to upgrade the philosophy.

Barca remind me of the Indian hockey field team. The nation dominated when the game was played on grass. When the surface switched to astro turf and favoured the faster, stronger Europeans and Aussies the Indians were blown away and have never recovered their status. It's the same with this club. If we don't adapt we won't recover.

Great then. Let's just put the Liverpool crest instead of our own, so you guys can be proud again.

Pique will likely stay as his experience is something I think Xavi values and needs, same with Busquets.

On Saturday I saw a different Barca that pressured all over the pitch, the good ol' ball domination days. But there are players who either can't pass accurately (mainly youngsters and Depay) or experts who slow down the tempo (Pique and Busi). Frenkie is caught somewhere in the middle of that. Things could change for better once Fati and Dembele return to play and I pray we overcome the injury plague as a whole at the club.

Let's hope this is the last season with Busi and Pique. Would rather we move on from them instead of delaying every year because of 'experience' when in fact they are liabilities.

I can't hear this shit anymore. 'Barca DNA' is not what led to our downfall.

Played its part with players like Pique and Busquets being held onto for far too long in this belief that they are best in world in their position.

Many other factors as well but definitely the 'Barca DNA' idea has impacted how some players are still seen as relevant when football has moved on.

Puyol had retired at Pique's age, he was falling apart with injuries in his final season. Ramos is a year older than him and basically skipped playing football in 2021. I think it will be up to Pique to decide whether to continue at Barca or retire from football. I don't see him going to MLS or J-League as until recently he was involved with other bussines ventures.

Xavi: "Physicality? You don't have to measure 2 meters and weigh 85 kilos. It depends on the game model you want to play, it's not my priority to be physically strong, but with players like Nico and De Jong, we have them too."
