every bit of news since xavi signed as coach has been bad or awful or terrible.

you think? for me it feels we get bad barca related news nearly every day since years now. There are things like bad luck (injuries, transfers not beeing as good as expected) mixed with the idiocy of our leadership (overpaying for transfers and players that are past their prime, stupid long term contracts, most financial decisions etc.). Since Neymar left we are embarrasing us in the world of football day in day out. At least it feels that way for me.

I think he's the only youth prospect I have ever seen BBZ writing some nice things about.

I wrote good about Alena for a few Months in one era, also.
But gave up from him soon.

About Simons, I like his personality (not the part where he left us, of course) compared to our vanilla cloned choir boys.
Also, his playing style is different to a team of clones by Pep where all 6 midfielders+attackers move and play the same.

If he is cheap, I would surely take him back and try one more time.
Of course, he has stalled in the development and it is way more likely that he'll end up as a segunda player or a player at Belgium/Netherlands/Austria, but still, if he is extremely cheap, I would try with him.

But I don't think that Xavi likes his playing style.

so simons had a few good performances in meaningless preseason games for psg. so what?

you 'like his personality'? he is as shallow and as hyped up on his own image as anyone can be, to a degree that dramatically outstrips his actual, concrete achievements. what about his 'personality' do you like? you bracket that aspect of him that 'left us' for money at 16.

newsflash bbz: that is his personality

--
he is also small and weak and therefore a classic anti-bbz player (nothing like the workhorse god Rakitic). so unless you are trolling, it is entirely inconsistent with everything to claim to believe in to say that you would 'take him back'

I like his personality in the sense that he seems somewhat cocky/arrogant/combative/not being a silent choirboy.
Someone always replies: but you hated Neymar.
Well, Neymar is confident but he is a clown, does stupid circus tricks, rarely passes the ball and he fights with everyone.
So, I like somewhat cocky players (I love Zlatan, for example) except Neymar.
By Simons's haircut for example, I like it more than Pedri's and Frenkie's, but some people will jump on this, but you know what I meant. I hate vanilla shy guys.

Further, there is nothing wrong with Pedri.
But if you have 3 Pedris in midfield, you will need 2 Ronaldinhos in attack to finish the actions.
So, 3 Pedris will play somewhat sterile and robotic midfield TikiTaka and get the ball to the attacking third, but then you'll need SOMEONE ELSE to do the magic in the final third.
But also, you can't have 6 Ronaldinhos because then you will lack what 3 Pedris are doing in midfield.
My point, if you want Barca DNA midfield to work, you need some magic on top of it, like Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Messi, Deco.
In that sense, I see glimpses of magic/something different than TikiTaka in Simons.
For the same reason, I had hopes in Coutinho because on paper he offers something different and magical, but he just crumbled mentaly in our team and it will never work.

About height, I would prefer a 185 cm tall midfield magician, but since we don't have those and we can't buy them, then even a 168cm Simons will do the trick, as long as he is offering some magic on top of our midfield TikiTaka.

Now if you watch that video again, you'll see that he is not trying to TikiTaka the opponents till death. Instead he is trying to get the ball into the box with trickery and solo actions from midfield.
Something which Puig does here and there, for example.

About Simons stabbing us, well even Eric Garcia left and now he is back.
Or: Thiago whom we want back.
Each case is unique, but still...

My guy, Nico is a 1.89m tank who weighs 80+ kg. Hop onto the hype train, it hasn't taken off for now. He is a midfield magician and a perfect player for you to like

to be clear i dont mind some cockiness, i.e. zlatan's

but usually that corresponds to achievement and talent.

simons cockiness comes from his instagram fame and his inflated ago.

no thanks

Zlatan hasn't even won a CL, despite playing for top teams for almost his entire career.

Looks like Neymar was the more effective player of the two, BBZ.

Ibra was a good player, and on some days great. But the lack of CL despite playing for Juventus, Inter, Milan, Barca, PSG etc. hurts him a lot.

For me, he's below the Lewa - Suarez - Benz tier, and in the company of Aguero and Cavani.

i mean, that's fine. i dont really 'count it' against Zlatan. R9 didnt win a cl either (i am not at all saying that ibra and r9 are even comparable; they are not. only the observation that 'not winning a cl' shouldnt automatically be counted against you).

but zlatan was a very very good player for many years, and he won a lot of things with a lot of clubs in a lot of countries. even today he isnt all that bad, and hes like 40.

he also specialized in some really amazing goals. so i think his cockiness is warranted. at the very least he has better reasons to be cocky than 99% of humans the world over who are cocky despite having little or no achievements to show for it, lol

yeah, thats a pretty good assessment of his place in the rankings

to get back on topic:

the last thing this club needs is an unproven, short and skinny drama queen with a troublesome agent who will push for minutes when these should be given to other youngsters like gavi who already look 1000x better and dont have the baggage

My point is, according to BBZ, Zlatan has the right to be cocky, while Neymar does not, which is weird, considering the latter has arguably achieved more in the game.

If its okay for Zlatan to be cocky, its okay for Neymar too.
