I dont know what a wink wink deal is, but yea, I think the window in germany is closed now. Don't think he'll sign anything, but he alrdy took the medical test. Maybe they'll present him to the media and all, and he'll sign the deal in summer. dunno

Transfer window closed means that he cant join right NOW. But he can sign a contract running from 1st July already.

Looks certain to join Bayern. Can't wait to see him feature for them. Really excited to see how he will develop playing with people like robben, ribery, muller, kroos, etc. Kid has potential to go far.

Transfer to Bayern in summer is confirmed. Transfer sum not revealed but supposed to be 9M+3M variable.

It's a good move for everyone involved although the pricing seems very dubious...Bayern gets a terrific talent, Shaqiri gets a big club to take his game to a much needed higher level, Basel profit in a transfer (Albeit less than they could've in the open market, I believe) and the Suisse NT will likely get a better player - which might be the thing I'm most excited about

I think the player has gotten a little too complacent in the Suisse League and both the Bundesliga and regular European football will force the player to up his game...For me, he too often settled for merely playing tactically only to win fks in dangerous positions too often...He has another level or two his game can still ascend to, IMHO

I have only seen him feature for Basel in the CL and a few games for the u-21 Swiss side. From what I have seen the dude tears it up and is a constant threat most of the time. Can anyone who has seen more of him give me some info? I would like to hear opinions on how much potential this kid has. Considering he has some pretty stiff competition at Bayern now. But he is only 20.

Read the thread, mon frere...He's got great potential and like any player with potential, it's down to the player's work ethic and mentality to take it to the next level...Helluva left leg in the mold of Roberto Carlos...Compact, strong, pacy, guile & intensity...He has a lot of great attributes, I think Bayern is a great destination for him, especially with the system and support he'll get as well as the language

He's a right sided winger but will likely be used in a false 9 role ala Messi at Bayern...He's been the big fish in the little pond for awhile now...This transition is often times the one that makes or breaks a player trying to get to the next level...I think the kid has it in him to make it to the next level but he will have to improve his game

FCB > FCB

way to go Shaqiri. Hope one day you'd become good enough to play for the best FCB of 'em all

I am glad that he moved to Bayern München now when FCB and ACM were not realistic options.

The Bundesliga will suit him perfectly so will the current setup by Heynckes. I was very impressed by Shaqiri's performance during the U21 EURO Championship and later his perfomance during the CL campaign.

I have obviously not followed him in the Swiss league at all but there can be no doubt that he is too good for that league.

Ribéry and Robben are not getting younger or more match fit for that matter so Shaqiri is the perfect replacement on the long run considering his current level, potential and price.

In short FCB made an excellent deal even though Reus probably was the first priority but he moved to his childhood club Dortmund instead.

Unfortunately the purchase of Shaqiri probably means that Usami will not get a contract on return to Japan. The kid is a real talent as well but you cannot have them all.
