BBZ, sometimes I seriously wonder why you are not a Real Madrid or Bayern fan. You must have hated Guardiola and his football so much. Are you just barely clinging on out there these days (or years)?

But why some of you act as if playing possession football is a purpose of football?

I love both nice football AND results.
But if I had to pick:
1. playing wonderful and not winning trophies
2. and playing ugly and winning trophies
= of course that I would pick a number 2.

Some of you would pick wonderful football over anything, as if this is not sport/a job/a business.

Also, there is always an option to play both nice and win trophies.

But still, too many guys here are obsessed: oh, this player is good at passing, he is our guy.
Oh, this coach teaches a possession football, he is our guy.

There ARE other things in football than having nice passes and passing the ball around the box till death.
Sorry if I am harsh.

Pep is not my favorite Barca's manager, that's sure.

The problem is that if they take la liga we have to win the CL or we'll finish trophyless.

I prefer watching Madrid win the CL and Barca the league than watching Barca finish the season with 0 trophies.

They won't win La liga.
We have Messi.

We are not winning La ligas because of our tactics or possession football.
Messi is 80-90% of our La liga trophies.
So, don't worry about that part.

Dont be silly, you practically own the copa, so you will never be trophyless.
I would rather take the CL than the league, so this is a blow, especially as next season the final will be on Atleticos stadium.
Was hoping Zidane would go for one last season to make it there, then resign.

Yeah but I don't really care that much about the copa. The league and the CL are the only two major trophies.

The point is that Messi can carry us to achieve 90-93 points per season. With a manager like Conte Real would get much more points, maybe 95 or 100 like we did when Pep was our coach.

Reall, Stoichkov1? And you know that - how?

Managers rarely last more than 3-4 seasons at Barca and Madrid. Pressure is just insane.

I could imagine that this was part of the reason he left. If I recall correctly even after winning to Cl in a row there were still people thinking he doesn't have what it takes to be Real manager(?). This would basically mean that if he doesn't win the Cl every year (or e.g. a double), he would be sacked no matter his achievements the seasons before. I could imagine this gets very exhausting rather quickly.
On top of that winning 3 Cl back to back really has to be the peak of what a team can achieve and as they say, it is best to quit when you are at the top.

We never got 100 with Pep as coach. That was with Tito. And with a manager like Conte, he's more likely to butt heads with the wrong people at the club and get sacked, than he is to have fantastic results. The guy sucks at managing in the CL and has only had good league campaigns when his team either crashes out of Europe early or wasn't there at all.

No, you got it wrong, this is not about which style is better or having to pick between playing the so-called "beautiful football" and winning trophies ("beautiful football" is a different thing to different people and whatever it is, it does not necessarily contradict with winning trophies anyway). No one can say possession football is the better style and more superior to other forms and styles of football and vice versa, it all comes down to each individual's preference. So this is not about that.

What this is about is, you clearly do not seem to like possession football and many of those things you touted and valued are practiced by teams such as Real Madrid and Bayern and how come you have not become a fan of those teams? That was my question.

I'm not so sure it's great news for us. Let's face it, he wasn't a great tactician - his league performance highlighted that. They have got insanely lucky these past 3 seasons, to add to their clinicial conversion of chances of course.

I think next season is when fatigue and complacency might have trickled in - the squad has won 3 back to back CL's. I don't see what fresh ideas he would have brought to the team and I get the feeling they would have struggled - especially considering Ronaldo's massive decline.

I think him leaving now can sort of kick-start a new era for them, maybe without Ronaldo, and if they get the right man, they could look to build for the future. Zidane gave them instant success, and now they can build for the future without too much pressure.
