8 - Pedri

He is a great player but to show that the rest of the team has to be on point. On his own, he can’t take a game by the scruff of the neck and decide it on his own. Not that kind of talent unfortunately.

I see the haters are back, fun stuff
Fun stuff indeed. I laughed my ass off to that post where TacticsTim said there are lithium miners twice his size. When Pedri has a bad game at least you know his thread on barcaforum is up for some comedy gold😭

Has had a very good start to the season. Played well in big games vs. Bayern and Real Madrid.
Is best in a deeper midfield role as already mentioned by others in this thread.

Has one underwhelming game where he started off more advanced and looked a bit leggy and here comes the pitchforks

His first poor game of this season. A bad day, nothing more or less. But if he wants to excel in #10 role, he has to learn the Xavi way. Or Zidane's style of play (similiar technique, two footed ability).

Or else Flick should play him as a normal CM like most of this season.

Lol, I read comments like "useless" - get a fucking grip, he was one of the best in a useless team against Sociedad. Pedri, Lewa and Casado were the only players above average - it was Kounde, Frenkie, Raph, Fermin, Cubarsi, Balde, Inigo who fucked up + Flick.

Yes, people were writing that he was better in an advanced or number 10 role. For me he has always been a deeper lying player. I don't think he has the killer edge or shooting to play in a more advanced role, though admittedly his ability in tight spaces can be an advantage closer to goal, near the D etc.

I do believe he is better deeper though, pulling the strings and controlling the game. It seems the forum is a little split on this but to me that is definitely the player he has always been,

Watch some of Zidane's highlights and he also didn't really have the killer pass or shoot in him either (compare to other top attacking 10).

Pedri can refer to Zidane's style of play if he continues to play as a 10 (very likely). Though Pedri does not have Zidane's physicality/body balance. Zidane liked to held on the ball/dribble, not only thanks to his technique but also his body strength that made it hard to push him off the ball.

Pedri also doesn't have the agility/quick acceleration, burst of Iniesta or Neymar.

He will always have this disadvantage when he plays in an advanced role.
